JNF finalizing plans
for ’85 dinner dance
The Jewish National Fund has
announced the committee for its
1985 Dinner Dance which will be
held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan.
12, at the Peachtree Plaza Hotel.
The dinner will launch the inter
national campaign to develop the
King Solomon’s Mines National
Park.
Sheila Wilensky is vice president
for the dinner, and Gail Dinner-
stein and Ellen Goldstein are co-
chairpersons.
Dorothy Axelrod is chairperson
of the reservations committee and
Sara Piha and Louis Habif are co-
chairpersons.
Members of the Host and Host
ess Committee are Louise and
Harold Kopp, Perla and Ron Lip-
sitz, Gina and Sam Shapiro, Betsy
and Dr. Paul Teplis and Linda and
Larry Wolfe.

at Beth Jacob for seminar

present “A Layman’s View.”
Rabbi Feldman will lead a dis
cussion that will include Rabbi
Mark Levin of Memphis, Rabbi
Zalman Posner of Nashville and
Dr. Edward Leader, of Atlanta.
Rabbi Daniel Estriecher of At
lanta will chair a round-robin
workshop Wednesday morning,
Dec. 12, along with Rabbi Avig-
dor Slatus of Savannah, Rabbi Ye
huda Shmulewitz of Atlanta,
Rabbi Raphael Grossman of
Memphis, Rabbi Ilan Feldman of
Atlanta and Mrs. Harriet Cortell,
chairperson of the Chesed commit
tee at Congregation Beth Jacob.
Lunch that day will be held at
Yeshiva High School.
The regional seminars, held
throughout the year in various
cities in the United States and Can
ada, enable rabbis to meet and
parley with distinguished colleagues
in various fields on topics of com
mon concern.

out the South will meet in Atlanta
to discuss “The Jewish Family in
Crisis” and other related issues
challenging the Orthodox rabbi
nate at a two-day seminar Dec. 11-
12. The seminar is being sponsored
by the Max Stern Division of
Communal Services (MSDCS) of
the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theo
logical Seminary (RIETS) in New
York City.
The seminar will be held at Con
gregation Beth Jacob with Rabbi
Emanuel Feldman serving as
host.
Rabbi Herschel Schacter, direc
tor of the Department of Rabbinic
Services at MSDCS, is coordina
tor of the event.
Among the highlights of the
seminar will be a shiur (Talmudic
discourse) by Rabbi Aharon Kahn,
rosh yeshiva (professor of Talmud)
at RIETS and rosh kollel of the
Caroline and Joseph S. Gruss Kol
lel Elyon (Post-Graduate Kollel
Program). The shiur will be intro-
duced by Rabbi Nathan
Greenblatt of Memphis.
A symposium of the Jewish fam
ily will be moderated by Rabbi
Maynard C. Hyman of Augusta.

ton, Rabbi Harry Rosen of Bir
mingham and Dr. Ephraim Frank-
el of Atlanta will take part in the
symposium.

beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.
11. At the dinner, Rabbi Kahn will
