-L’ Chaim— Continued from page 16. after living in New York and Texas, they settled in Rome, Ga. When Egon died, which was the darkest point in her life, Ginger came to Atlanta. That was 15 years ago. Ginger warmly noted, “1 adore everybody if they just give me a chance. Some people don’t want to be loved, but 1 play it by ear with hopes of making friends.” Ginger’s husband Egon beauti fully described her, when he wrote in a letter saved over the years: “I describe her as having exceptional human qualities and the best and most trustworthy character you can find. She is an affectionate per son and gives of herself abun dantly.” What, you might ask, is Ginger’s motivation? It rests solely on the fact that the love she gives others returns to her multiplied. She is simply so happy to help, and to be needed, which gives her a special purpose. The ringing of her phone, a call that someone needs help is all that this spirited and dedicated lady needs. In fact, if she’s not out help ing someone right this minute it’s my guess that she's hoping that the phone will ring and she’ll then be busy at work. Cheshire Square ^2 Reservations suggested 03/O 4 * Meichels Chicken With Lemon And Sherry 3 tbsps. sherry 4 green onions, chopped 1/2 tsp. ginger 1 lb. chicken breasts cut into very small pieces 2 tbsps. oil 2 celery sticks, thinly sliced 1 red pepper, thinly sliced 4 o/s. cut-up mushrooms 1 carrot, cut into thin, small strips 2 tsps. soy sauce rind of 2 lemons Put sherry, onions and ginger in a large bowl. Add chicken and toss well to coast. Marinate 20 minutes. Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Add vegetables and stir fry for one minute. Add chicken with mari nade and cook for five minutes. Stir in soy sauce and lemon rind. Cook for a few more minutes or until chicken is tender. Serves four. Serve with white or brown steamed rice. Cold Vegetable Salad 1/2 cup canned peas, drained 1/2 cup canned green beans, drained 1 medium cauliflower, broken into flowerettes 1 cup mayonnaise 1 small onion, minced 1 stalk green onion, minced 2 tbsps. milk salt, pepper Mix all ingredients together, (.'hill overnight. Dill Halibut 1 and 1/2 lbs. halibut steak 1 medium onion, diced 2 tbsps. oi! 3/5 cup catsup 1 tsp. vinegar 2 tsp. chopped dill Try onion in oil until golden in a small frying pan. Remove from flame. Mix catsup, vinegarand dill and add to fried onions. Place fish in a lightly greased baking pan. Spread sauce over it and bake for 25 minutes at 375 degrees.Serves four-five. Zucchini-Carrot Bread 3 cups sugar 4 eggs 1 and 1/2 cups oil 4 cups grated zucchini 1 grated carrot 3 cups flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cloves 3 tsp. cinnamon 1 cup chopped walnuts 1/2 cup yellow raisins 1/2 cup chocolate chips Mix well. Pour into three well- greased and lightly floured loaf pans. Bake for l'/: hours at 300 degrees. Cool.
