ZOA to sponsor lecture by propaganda analyst
Zionist Organization of America
and the American Zionist Federa
tion will sponsor a lecture by Dr.
Baruch Gitliss at 8 p.m. Thursday,
April 10, at B’nai Torah Syna
gogue.
Dr. Gitliss, senior lecturer in the
psychology of propaganda at Bar
Ilan University and head of the
Harry Karren Institute for Propa-
| ganda Analysis, will speak on
“Propaganda—Terrorism of the
Mind: How to live with it, how to
counter it.” Earlier in the day Dr.
Gitliss w ill be guest lecturer at sev
eral Emory University depart
ments.
Prior to his Bar Ilan appoint
ment, Dr. Gitliss taught at the
University of Southern California.
He serves as adviser on propa
ganda analysis to Israel’s E'oreign
Ministry, Israel’s Defense Forces
Dr. Baruch Gitliss
and The Jewish Agency.
He has written three books, the
most recent being “The Nazis’
Anti-Semitic Film.” The films Dr.
Gitliss will use to illustrate his lec
ture focus on the image of the Jew
in PLO cinema and American TV.
He will also deal with the effect of
propaganda on the American
psyche and the American percep
tion of Zionism.
Dr. Gitliss had degrees in Jewish
history and Middle East studies
from Hebrew University of Jerusa
lem and holds a doctorate in com
munications with special emphasis
on film propaganda from the Uni
versity of Southern California.
Harry Karren Institute, founded
in 1981 and the only such center in
existence, instructs some 2,000
people every year, holding semin
ars dealing with how to recognize
television’s rhetoric and how to
counteract anti-Israel and anti-
Semitic propaganda.

Club 50 to hold spring dance
B’nai B’rith softballers

ters of the Georgia State Associa
tion of B’nai B’rith began its 1986
Soft Ball Teague season Sunday,
March 23, and will continue
through the end of July.
Games will be held every Sun
day starting at 6:30 p.m. at Terrell
Mill Park in East Cobb County.

will investigate stress
Young Professionals of Mt.
Scopus Hadassah will meet at
10:30 a m. Sunday, April 6, at
AJCC/ Peachtree.
“Stress: Its Causes, Its Preven
tion, Its Management,” will be dis
cussed. Paul Fair, Ph.D. will be
guest speaker. Dr. Fair is a counse

AJCC’s Club 50 will hold its
annual spring dinner dance at 8:30
p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Club
Savoy in Chamblee.
The event will feature an Atlanta
disc jockey spinning big band
dance tunes from the '40s, ’50s and
’60s, a dance contest, buffet and
cash bar. Admission is $13.50 a
person for AJCC/Club 50 mem
bers and dates, and $20 a person
for non-members. Reservations
will be limited to 100 and will be
restricted to Club 50 members
