Down memory lane
More than 40 years after a group of junior high school students joined DSI (Devoted Sons of Israel)
chapter of AZ A, they gathered at the home of Stan and Stella f irestone to catch up on the intervening
years. Forty people, including members, leaders, wives, sweethearts and husbands, attended the March
23 reunion. A donation was made to the AJCC’s Camp Barney Medintz Fund to honor leaders Abe
Levetan and Sidney Rich “for many years of service.”

Chalets to head party committee
of Israel Bonds New Leadership
Rubin Piha, chairman of the
New Leadership Division of State
of Israel Bonds, announced that
Dr. Michael and Ellen Chalef will
co-chair the party committee for
the New Leadership Division. They
will be coordinating plans for a
gala event planned for May 17.
Michael Chalef, a native of New
York, is a dentist in private prac
tice. He is a graduate of Emory
School of Dentistry. He is secre
tary of Achim Lodge of B’nai
B’rith and is a member of the
Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity.
Ellen, a native of Washington,
D C., graduated from Emory Uni
versity and is a member of the
American Institute of CPAs and
the Georgia Society of CPAs. She
is vice president of Ketura Chapter
of Hadassah, financial secretary of
Crosstown ORT Chapter and a
member of B’nai B’rith Women.
T he Chalefs have a daughter,
Amy.
