Bobbi is the daughter of Donnie Golson and Betty Slaughter. She is the grand daughter of Lenora Galanti Golson of Atlanta, and Max and Ethelyn Slaughter of Birmingham. Dr. and Mrs. Gerardo Zloc- zover of Fayetteville, Ga., announce the birth of a son, Mark Daniel, on March 30. Grandparents are Ralph and Eleanor Murphy of Stoneham, Mass., and Jacob and Sali Zloczover of Lima, Peru. Mark was given the Hebrew name Moshe. The bris was per formed by Dr. Mark J. Safra. * * * * Jane and Harry Scheinfeld of Atlanta announce the birth of a daughter, Emily Nicole, on Jan. 20. Grandparents are Rae and Ralph Morris and Sophie Schein feld, all of Atlanta, and the late Robert Scheinfeld. Emily was blessed and given the Hebrew name Yosefa Batya during Shabbat services at Ahavath Achim Synagogue. * * * Josef and Carol Silverman of Danville, Va., announce the birth of a son, William Harry, on April 16. Grandparents are Faye Silver- man of Savannah, and Ellen and Ellis Berlin of Winston-Salem, N.C. Great-grandfather is Louis Silverman of Savannah. * * * Steven and Jere Finer of St. Louis, Mo., announce the arrival of a daughter, Aliza Ora. on March 10. Grandparents are Mrs. Rosaline Eisenberg of Atlanta, and Mrs. Norma Peril of St. Louis, and the late Albert Finer. Ayal Hod. a sophomore at Yeshiva University in New York, has been named “Rookie of the Year” of the Independent Athletic Conference and a member of the College Division Jewish All- American Basketball Team. He is also a member of the all conference team of the Inde pendent Athletic Conference, and was chosen as “Rookie of the Week” twice by the Eastern College Athletic Conference. He is a forward on the Yeshiva University Maccabees and av eraged 17 points and 1 1.6 re bounds per game. Ayal. a graduate of Cross Keys High School in Atlanta, is majoring in accounting at Yesh iva College while taking Jewish studies courses at the James Striar School of General Jew ish Studies. His brother, L.ior, also plays tor the Maccabees. J hey are the sons of Dov and Riva Hod of Israel, and have lived with Norman and Zena Lovinger of Atlanta for the past five vears. The Bar Mitzva of Jason Brian Beldick of Atlanta will take place at 8:45 a.m. Satur day. May 10. at Congregation B’nai Torah. A congregational kiddush will follow. Jason is the son of Eva and Gary Beldick. He is the grand son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Bel dick and Mrs. Irene Bases, all of Montreal, Canada, and the late Paul Bases. Jason will share his Bar Mitzva with Igor Stanislavsky of Kishinev, U.S.S.R. Suzanne Elson and Betty Smu- lian of Atlanta will be among 10 women who will be inducted into YWCA’s Academy of Women A- chievers at a Salute luncheon. Each year the academy recog nizes the accomplishments and con tributions of 10 outstanding metro Atlanta women in areas of busi ness and industry, the professions, arts and communications, educa tion and public service. Also being honored at the lun cheon is Coretta Scott King, 1986 Woman of Achievement. * * * Judy Cohen has returned to Atlan ta from Sinai, Egypt, where for two years she was a civ ilian obser ver for the Multinational Force and Observers, while on leave from the State Department. Judy visited India, Singapore and Australia before returning. She will attend her Emory Business School class reunion April 26. The Bat Mitzva of Amy Hendelberg of Atlanta will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Ahavath Achim Syna gogue. A congregational kid dush will follow. Amy is the daughter of David and Linda Hendelberg. She is the granddaughter of Freddie and Betty Kaiman of Miami Beach and the late Philip Hen delberg, and the late Morris and Rosa Sobel of Kingsport, Tenn. Amy will share her Bat Mitzva with Lubov Kroiter of Kishinev, U.S.S.R. Ari Silverstein, a seventh grader at Marist School, has been recog nized by Duke University in its Talent Search program for his per formance on the Scholastic Apti tude Test. He has been invited to attend the state recognition cere mony on June 16 at Georgia State University and the Grand Recog nition Ceremony on May 10 at Duke University. Ari is the son of Gary and Lois Silverstein of Stone Mountain. * * * Samuel Miller of Atlanta has been re-elected to the national board of trustees of the Leukemia Society of America. Miller is a partner of the law firm of Nall and Miller. He has served on the board of trustees ol The Temple, on the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and is a Mason. Barry Robert Jaspan, 10th grader at Dunwoody High School, shows his project, “Life on a computer,” for which he won first place at the 1986 Georgia Science and Engineering Fair, in Athens. Barry, the son of Barbara and Jon Jaspan, first competed in March at the DeKalb/Rockdale County Math/Science Fair, where he also took first place.
