Leo M. Frank Lodge to hold Las Vegas Casino Night
The Leo M. Frank Lodge, of
B’nai B'rith will hold its first Las
Vegas Casino Night on Saturday,
May 31, 8:30 p.m. at the Grand
Ballroom of the American Hotel.
For a $10 donation, ($12 at the
door), the participants will be pro
vided with enough “play” money
to spend several hours at the black
jack tables, crap tables and rou
lette wheels. Win or lose, drawings
will be held at the end of the even
ing for door prizes, such as: com
plimentary air travel for two on
Air Atlanta, jewelry, camera equip
ment, stereo equipment and theater

for Mother’s Day gala
Congregation Or VeShalom will
celebrate Mother's Day with a
“Marvelous Mother’s Day” event
at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 11, in the
synagogue’s social hall.
The evening will begin with a
dinner of Sephardic “soul” foods.
A goods and services auction will
follow consisting of hundreds of
dinners, vacations, entertainment
and merchandise items. The top
item for bid will be a 1986 Chev
rolet Nova. Following the auction
will be a Gala Broadway Review
by the OVS Players.
Cost is $ 15 for adults and $ 10 for
children 1 2 and younger. Reserva
tions are required by May 8, but
those who register by May 5 will be
entered into a drawing for a two-
day vacation including room and
all meals for two at the Stagecoach
Resort Inn, the first kosher hotel
and restaurant in the Orlando, Fla.

art expo and auction
Temple Beth David is having an
art expo and auction conducted by
Marlin Art of New York, Satur
day, May 3. There will be a preview
at 7:30 p.m. with the auction fol
lowing at 8:30. The event will be
held at Summit Chase Country
Club, 78 Rosebud Road, Snell
ville.
Admission is $3 per person, $5
per couple. Hors d’oeuvres will be

Psychiatrist to address
Jewish Home’s Council
TheJewish Home FamilyCoun-

Dr. Thomas Bantley, an Atlanta
psychiatrist who specializes in
treating the elderly, will speak on
issues of geriatric psychiatry.
TheJewish Home Family Coun
cil consists of all family members

Author Welt will speak
at Temple on May 16
Elly Welt, author of the soon-to-
be-published novel, “Berlin Wild,”
will be guest speaker at The Tem
ple’s Shabbat service at 8:15 p.m.
Friday, May 16. Her topic will be
“Surviving the Holocaust: A per
sonal approach.”
A Book-of-the-Month Club se
lection, “Berlin Wild” portrays the
tragedy and insanity of Nazi Ger
many from the perspective of the

Kids’ Morning Movie
will be shown by ORT
Some 400 disadvantaged and
disabled children will be treated to
the movie “Rainbow Brite," by
Women’s American ORT, Atlanta
Region, at 10 a.m. Thursday, May
8. This Children’s Morning Movie,
spearheaded by the Dunwoody
Springs chapter, will take place at
the Plaza Theatre.

Seminars will spotlight
women and their choices
Helping women make volunteer
and career choices will be the focus
of “A Woman's Place... A Series of
Seminars for Women Seeking New
Directions,” a program sponsored
jointly by the American Jewish
Congress, Junior League of At
lanta, Atlanta Women’s Network,
National Council of Jewish
Women, Atlanta Section, and the
YWCA.
The program will be held from 9
a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at
the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel.

Shabbaton/Lock-In
Shearith Israel Youth Group
will host its annual Shabbaton,
Lock-In, Friday, May 9, through
Saturday, May 10, at the syna
gogue. The ^Jiabbaton for grades
five through seven, will include
educational programs, an Oneg
Shabbat, Havdalah, services and
shabbat meals, and more. Partici
pants will sleep over in the syn
agogue. Cost of the Shabbat is $18
a person.

Brandeis installation
to include museum tour
The Creative Arts Meeting of
Brandeis University National
Women’s Committee, Atlanta Chap
ter will be held at 9:30 p.m. Wed
nesday, May 7, at the Country
Place at Colony Square. Brunch
will be served and the 1986-87 slate
of officers will be installed. Dale
Millman will head the slate as the
new Brandeis president.
The fourth Helen M. Goldstein
Volunteer of the Year Award will
be presented to Billie Feinman for
her exceptional service both to
Brandeis and to the community.
Following the meeting there will
be a tour of the exhibit “Advent of
North American Modern Art,” at
the High Museum.
