GIPAN to sponsor forum
for Senate hopefuls May 19
The Georgia Israel Public
Awareness Network (GIPAN) will
sponsor a candidates’ forum, for
the upcoming United States sena
torial race, at 7:30 p.m. Monday,
May 19, at The Temple.
A.J. Robinson, chairman of
GIPAN, says the forum has been
designed to provide candidates
with opportunity to express their
views on issues of concern to the
Jewish community, and to enable
voters to make informed decisions
at the polls.

The Southern Branch of
Women’s League for Conservative
Judaism will hold its annual con
ference in Memphis, Tenn., May
18, 19 and 20. Hostess sisterhood is
Beth Sholom. Mrs. Marvin Fish of
Pensacola, Fla., is president of
Southern Branch. Conference chair
men are Mrs. Hyman Tolmas of
New Orleans and Mrs. Gilbert
Routman of Birmingham. The con
ference theme is “Hand in Hand.”
Goldie (Mrs. Murry) Kweller,
immediate past president of Women’s
League for Conservative Judaism,
will be the conference adviser and
keynote speaker. Mrs. Kwellei now
serves as field service chairman of
Women’s League and chairman of
the nominatingcommittee. By voca
tion a full-time volunteer, Mrs.
Kweller has been recognized for
her accomplishments on many lev
els. She serves her synagogue as
vice president, has been treasurer
and vice president on the National
Board of Women’s League, serves
on the board of directors of United
Synagogue of America, World Jew
ish Congress (American Section),
American Zionist Foundation and
is vice president of the World Coun
cil of Synagogues. She is also a
member of the board of overseers
of the Jewish Theological Semi
nary and a member of the task
force of Eternal Light. She has
given outstanding service to the
United Jewish Appeal and was
named Woman of the Year for her
service in the Queens UJ A-Federa-
tion. She is a life member of Hadas-
sah.
Mrs. Kweller has served on
many committees of Alfred Uni
versity and was chairman of the
legislative advisory council of the
New York City Council.

the eight states comprising the
Southern Branch of Women’s League
for Conservative Judaism will at
tend the conference.
