The Bat Mitzva of Melissa

Melissa is the daughter of
Lynn and Myles Gould. She is
the granddaughter of Gladys
and Arthur Gould, and Ida and
Charles Borochoff, all of At
lanta. Great-grandmother is
Pauline Borochoff of Atlanta.

The Bar Mitzva of Scott
Bryan Sirotkin of Atlanta will

day, May 17. at Congregation
Shearith Israel.
Scott is the son of Judith and
Barry Sirotkin. He is the grand
son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Sirotkin of Manhattan and Long
Beach. Long Island, N.Y., and
Frances Fried of Atlanta, and
the late Michael Fried.

has been named youth-adult servi
ces director for the Birmingham,
Alabama Jewish Community Center.
A magna cum laude graduate of
the University of Georgia School
of Social Work, she is a graduate
of the Hebrew' Academy of Atlanta
and Druid Hills High School.
Married to Jeffrey Spielberger,
she is the daughter of Alvin and
Barbara Tenenbaum of Atlanta.

Dr. A. Bartlett Giamatti, presi
dent of Yale University, and Ira A.
Hirshmann noted author and for
mer personal envoy for President
Franklin D. Roosevelt, have been
awarded the Doctor of Humane
Letters degree by Hebrew Union
College-Jewish Institute of Reli
gion. The honorary doctorates
were conferred by Dr. Alfred Gott-
schalk, president of Hebrew Union
College, at Founders’ Day Exer
cises in New York recently.

recently elected president of the
Diabetes Association of Atlanta.
During his 30-year career with
National Services Industries, Jac
obson served as president of Na
tional Linen and as a board mem
ber and executive vice president of
National Services Industries.
A board member of the Atlanta
Jewish Federation, he has served
as a board member of the Bov
Scouts of America, the Atlanta
Jewish Community Center and the
Jewish Home. He is a past board
member of The Temple.
