The program, the fourth in the five-part public symposium, “Jewish Renewal in the Post-Modern World,” which is co-sponsored by the National Foundation for Jewish Culture and the Atlanta Jewish Federation, will also include a celebration of Yom Yerushalaim, sponsored by the Atlanta Zionist District of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA). Yom Yerushalaim, an official holiday in Israel, marks the reuni fication of Jerusalem 19 years ago. The Atlanta celebration will fea ture a concert of Jewish music by the Atlanta Shirim Chorale. The performance, which will mark the debut of the Shirim Chorale, Atlanta’s first professional Jewish choral group, will be a musical tribute to Jerusalem. The concert is an appropriate lead-in to the discussion which w ill follow, concerning the continuance of Jewish creativity in the Dias pora after the establishment of the State of Israel. Dr. Gerson Cohen, chancellor of the Jewish Theologi cal Seminary, is the featured speaker. Dr. David Blumenthal, chairman of the Department of Religion and professor of Judaic studies at Emory University, will respond to his remarks. Elliott Goldstein will serve as chairman for the evening. According to the official com munique issued jointly by the two governments, the project repres ents a new milestone in scientific exchanges on medical research and was developed to encourage coop eration between the two countries. The new center will feature a posi tron emission tomography unit, a cyclotron and a nuclear magnetic resonance device. Hadassah has been the Mid east's pacesetter in medical heal ing, teaching and research since 1912. The Hadassah Medical Or ganization, with its two hospitals at Mount Scopus and Ein Karem, Jerusalem, is the largest medical facility between Rome and Tokyo, providing tertiary care for patients on three continents.
