Brian Coan, a sixth grade student at the Epstein School,
accepts the annual Dr. Nathan Blass award for excellence in scho
larship and character from Mrs. Renie Weinstein, daughter of Dr.
Blass and a teacher at the shcool. The award was presented at the
school’s Founders’ Dinner, which honored Joe Cuba.

Gregory is the son of Jacalyn
and Alan Rolnick. He is the grand
son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Blye
of Dallas, Texas, and Mr and
Mrs. Jesse Rolnick of Atlanta.

Tillem of Atlanta will take place
at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at
Ahavath Achim Synagogue. A
congregational kiddush will

Lori is the daughter of Fran-
ceen and Melvin P. Tillem. She
is the granddaughter of Beverly
and Sam Shonson, and Belle
Tillem, all of Atlanta, and the
late Ben Tillem.
Lori is sharing her Bat M itzva
with her cousin, Steve Baum-
rind, all of Atlanta.
Michael J. Gruetz, professor of
law at Yale University, was recently
named by Yale to receive the
endowed professorship of Justus
S. Hotchkiss. He is the author of
“Federal Income Taxation: Prin
ciples and Policies (1985).”
The Bar Mitzva of Steven
Mark Baumrind of Atlanta will
take place at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Steven is the son of Marcia
and Emil Baumrind and the
grandson of Beverly and Samuel
Shonson, and Grace and Sey
mour Baumrind, all of Atlanta.
Steven is sharing his Bar
Mitzva with his cousin, Lori
Tillem.
Helen Suzman, a member of
South Africa’s parliament and an
anti-apartheid activist for more
than 30 years, recently received
Hebrew Union College-Jewish In
stitute of Religion’s Roger E.
Joseph Prize; (which carries a
$10,000 cash award) at the school’s
ordination ceremonies.
Den and Mae Broder of Atlanta will celebrate their 60th
wedding anniversary at the Jewish Tower with a party hosted by
their children on June 22.
Mae Schatz and Reuben Broder met in New York City and
were married June 20, 1926.
Attending will be their children, Dr. and Mrs. Milton Fried,
an ,oldie Menkus; grandchildren, Emily Sherwinter, Lester and
tn a Czuper, Jeff and Debbie Rubin, Joe Fried, Max Fried,
