Two children to go to camp on Jared Zane Israel grant The Jared Zane Israel Memorial Fund of the Atlanta Jewish Feder ation has announced a grant of $620, which will enable two young children to attend a Jewish camp this summer. Established to perpetuate the memory of Jared Israel, who tragi cally passed away at a very young age, the fund grants scholarships annually to provide a recreational experience to worthy and needy youngsters. Sherry and Rae (404) 252-0251 UJA Women’s Division plans fall leadership mission to Israel The United Jewish Appeal Women’s Division has announced a National Women’s Division Eeadership Mission to Israel Sept. 14-26. The mission will be a part of Celebration ’87, a campaign open ing event in which four UJA Mis sions will meet in Jerusalem for a two-day campaign launch. The two-week program is directed toward heightening knowledge and interest in Israel as well as increas ing awareness of the programs and human services provided by the Jewish Agency and American Jew ish Joint Distribution Committee and supported by the UJA and Federation Campaign. It will incor porate the special spirit of self- discovery, encounter and personal growth found in the Women's Di vision. Highlights of the Mission will include a briefing by Prime Minis ter Shimon Peres at the Western Wall, a celebration of the centen nial of David Ben-Gurion at Sde Boker, a spectacular Israel Air Force Hying exhibition, the dra matic Jerusalem sound and light show, and a march with commun ity members of Project Renewal neighborhoods from Ammunition Hill to the Western Wall along the 1967 paratroopers’ route. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet with Israelis from all walks of life. There will be briefings on future plans and direc tions of the Israeli economy, indus try and the latest agricultural and hi-tech achievements, as well as visits with new immigrants at Israel Absorption Centers, youngsters at Youth Aliyah Villages and resi dents of Project Renewal neigh borhoods; and a first hand look at the innovative programming of the Jewish Agency’s Rural Settlement Department. The mission is open to any woman in Atlanta who makes a minimum contribution of $500 to the 1987 Atlanta Jewish Federa tion Campaign. The all-inclusive cost of the mission is $2,400. Indi viduals who make a $1,500 or larger campaign pledge are eligible for a UJA subsidy, bringing the total cost of the trip to $ 1,665. All flights are on El Al, flying non-stop, di rectly to and from Israel. According to Laura Dinerman and Judith Cohen, co-chairmen of the 1987 Women’s Division Cam paign, the National Leadership Mission will be a wonderful oppor tunity for Atlanta’s women to join together with women from all over America in the spirit and challenge of Israel, and to be touched by the pride and promise that binds all Jews, one to another. The Federation’s Women’s Divi sion will hold a recruitment coffee for the mission at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the home of Laura Diner- man.
