Rosalie, Isadore Torch mark 50th wedding anniversary Rosalie and Isadore Torch of Macon will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 4. They were married in Jacksonville, Fla., in 1936. Their anniversary will be cele brated with an Oneg Shabbat at Sherah Israel on Friday, and a party at Riverside Golf and Coun try Club given by their children and grandchildren on Saturday night. Attending will be their chil dren, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews from out of town. Isadore Torch, a native of Macon, opened Torch Coal Co. in 1938. Me joined with his father, Aaron, and his brother, Harry, to form Aaron Torch and Sons, mechanical contractors, in 1945. In 1956 he formed Torch Construction Co. After his retirement in 1972, he began a real estate career with McNair Realty. He served as president of Con gregation Sherah Israel in Macon, and is currently on the board of trustees. He is past president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Ingleside Kiwanis Club, the Bibb County Grand Jurors Association, past potentate of A1 Siah Shrine Temple, and a member of the Ex change Club. Rosalie Torch was born in Rosalie and Isadore Torch Tampa, Fla. She has been active in Sherah Israel Sisterhood, Hadas- sah, B’nai B’rith Women, the Ex- changetts and Daughters of the Nile. She was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years. Their children are Muriel Eichel, Lynda Lind and Danyse Weinberg, all of Atlanta. Grandchildren are David and Steve Eichel; Amy and Gary Lind; Adam, Glen, Asher and Ivy Weinberg, all of Atlanta. Double masters to be offered in Jewish journalism BALTIMORE (JTA) —Balti more will be the site of the first program in the United States to offer a double master’s degree in Jewish studies and professional writing. A newly-created Baltimore Cen ter for Jew ish journalism will train men and women for editorial careers in the field of Jewish newsmedia and magazines. The program will start in September. The center is being formed by the Baltimore Hebrew College, Towson State University and the Baltimore Jewish Times. In the two-year program, stu dents will be able to earn a master of arts degree in Jewish studies from the Baltimore Hebrew Col lege, and a master of science degree from Towson State University.
