‘Spouse Support Group’
offered by Jewish Home
The Jewish Home will offer a
“Spouse Support Group” for those
whose partners are afflicted by
chronic disabilities such as Alz
heimer’s disease, Parkinson’s,
stroke and dementia. The first
meeting of the six-session course is
at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 13 at the
Jewish Home family room.
Some of the issues to be dis
cussed are: feelings about your
spouse’s impairment; expectations
of yourself; making a life for the
two of you; changing roles; assert
ing your rights without guilt; and
assertiveness with family, friends
and situations.
Nancy Kriseman, MSW, will
conduct the sessions, each of which
is expected to last about 90 min
utes. Ms. Kriseman has been con
ducting spouse support groups for
residents of the Jewish Home for
the past three years. This will mark
the first time the group will be open
to the community.
Cost is $10 for the six sessions.
Interested persons are asked to

AJCC to honor seniors
for volunteer service
At 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16,
26 AJCC Senior Adults will be
honored for 100 or more volunteer
hours of service during 1985-86 at
the annual Recognition Dinner.
The dinner, to be held at the
Peachtree building, will feature en
tertainment by the Schroeder Band
and dancing.

New school site, principal
announced by Beth Jacob
Congregation Beth Shalom has
announced that beginning in Sep
tember its Sunday school and week
day Hebrew classes will meet at the
AJCC/Zaban.
Alan Gorlin will be principal of
the religious school. Gorlin has a
background in Judaic and secular
education as a teacher and admin
istrator, and he will shortly earn a
Pli.D. in educational administra
tion from Hunter College. He for
merly lived in New York.
The religious school’s move to
AJCC/Zaban is a reflection of
Beth Shalom’s growth in recent
years. The synagogue provides a
full education program, offering
Hebrew classes on Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
