Community expansion and unity
are the themes being stressed by
the newly elected administration of
the Atlanta Jewish Federation, ac
cording to Betty R. Jacobson, the
first woman president of the Fed
eration.
“Each administration is chal
lenged with the responsibility to
build upon the past,” she said.
“Past presidents have given Feder
ation a sound foundation and strong
structure, which is ready to be
expanded.” Mrs. Jacobson charged
the Federation’s board and officers
to “reach out to Atlanta’s 60,000
Jews to unify, welcome and involve
them, to make our community one
that plans, works and participates
together. Together we need to raise
the money, build the facilities, plan
the future. Atlanta will be the most
cohesive Jewish community in
America,” said Mrs. Jacobson.
