And the band played on... There are several options to be explored when choosing musical entertainment for the party or re ception. Choices can be made of a program of popular tunes or per haps music of a traditional Jewish or Israeli nature. Taped music of any variety is a viable alternative to hiring a band. Before hiring a band, parents should make a point of hearing the band to determine if its style suits the celebration. When talking to the bandleader or agent, parents should ask about the cost of con tinuous vs. non-continuous music, how many minutes out of each hour the band will perform, the number of pieces to be used and what instruments they will be. Since many bands have a predetermined song list, particular requests of the parent or child should be told to rp.V.ilVkllggSllllllT the bandleader in advance. Also to be determined in advance is whether the music program will cater to the adults, children or both. If the parents plan on using a band that is not on a preferred list of the hotel where the reception is being held, the use of the band should be cleared with the appro priate hotel management.
