Business Briefs Barbara B. Balser of Atlanta was recently named executive vice president of the Manage ment Compensation Group (MCG) Southeast Incorporated. Prior to becoming a partner in the company, she was president of MCG Financial Corporation. Ms. Balser is chairman of the long-range planning committee for the Committee of 200, a member of the board of direc tors of Optimum Funding Cor poration and Quality Solids Separation Corporation. She is a member of the Women’s Com merce Club, Women Business Owners and National Women’s Political Caucus. In addition, Ms. Balser is a member of Leadership Atlanta and is vice president of the executive committee, Southeast region, of the Anti-Defamation League. She serves on the board of directors of the Luekemia Society of Georgia, the Atlanta College of Art and the Conti nuum Alliance for Human De velopment, Atlanta. She is also a member of the Friends of Spelman Committee and the finance committee of the Jew ish Home. Nancy L. Frenkel, CPA, has recently joined Atlanta Crea tive Graphics Inc. as their con troller. The company is a graph ics and screen processing company located in Roswell. Ms. Frenkel serves as chair man of the Georgia State Board of Accounting. Jeffrey A. Bashuk and David D. Robinson have become associated with the law firm of David R. Kam and Associates. Linda Davidson has been ap pointed sales associate of Pres enting Atlanta Tours Inc. Davidson was formerly with Rich’s department store as credit marketing manager. A gradu ate of Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio, she received her master of business adminis tration degree in marketing from Emory University. She is a native of Cleveland. Davidson is chairman of the Georgia Legislative Institute and board member of the National Council of Jewish Women. She is on the board of the Atlanta Jewish Federation’s Business and Professional Women, and a member of the American Mar keting Association. Arnall Golden & Gregory an nounced recently that Sherman A. Cohen has become associated with the firm in its Atlanta office. Cohen received his bachelor of science degree in economics, with majors in finance and accounting from the Wharton School, Univer sity of Pennsylvania, and his J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law. He was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar. He practices in the corporate and securities law area, in addition to handling mergers and acquisi tions. Cohen is a member of the Leo Frank Lodge of B’nai B’rith and the Ahavath Achim Synagogue. He is a member of the Young Careers section of the High Mu- The Bartlett Group Inc., an Atlanta-based advertising and public relations agency, has named Eva L. Goss account supervisor. Ms. Goss will be responsible for servicing clients in the real estate, retail, financial services, and health care industries. She was formerly an account supervisor for Fleishman & DiRico Inc. and served as a newscast producer for WXIA- TV and WSB-TV. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Juvenile Diabetes Founda- tion-Atlanta Chapter. A resident of Smyrna, Ms. Goss is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin S. Goss of Dun- woody. Strategic Business Develop ment, Inc., Atlanta’s first private service aimed at assisting fledgling companies, has begun operation at the Peachtree Palisades West build ing on Peachtree Street. High-tech consultant Bob Schwartz, formerly director of Georgia Tech’s Advanced Technol ogy Development Center outreach programs in Northeast Georgia, is president of the new service. He is a member of Ahavath Achim Syn agogue and a past member of its board. * * * Richard P. Swerdlin, ARM, has joined the firm of Insurance Coun seling & Management, Inc. as a vice president. David Baker, senior partner of Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy, was recently elected chairman of the General Prac tice Section of the American Bar Association. He will assume the position for one year. The General Practices Sec tion, with approximately 18,000 members, is the sixth largest section of the 22 sections that comprise the ABA. Baker is a member of The Temple, a trustee of the Ameri can Jewish Committee and chairman of its legal section, a member of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, and a member of the Atlanta Jewish Federation. Rhonda L. Fishbein has been named an associate of the Atlanta office and Bruce D. Peisner has been named an associate in the Macon office of Arnall Golden & Gregory. Stanley I. Levy recently be came a partner in the Atlanta office of Grant Thornton, an international accounting and management consulting firm. In 1985, Levy was president of B’nai B’rith Gate City Lodge and was named the outstanding president in Georgia. He is a former treasurer of the B’nai B’rith State Association, a trus tee of B’nai B’rith Gate City Lodge and a member of Temple Emanu-El. Delcy P. Harber, has been re tained as director of sales and marketing by Appleby Studio. She is a past president of Women’s American ORT, Atlanta Region, and is actively involved in Ahavath Achim Synagogue, and the Jewish National Fund.
