Emory students to get ‘Kosher Corner’ deli by Lee M. Oberman Special to The Southern Israelite Never again will a Ramaz High School senior be told he must look elsewhere. Never again will the observant Jew trying to choose between Emory and Brandcis find the decision so easy to make. As of this year, Emory University has kosher food! The Emory Dining Service, with the help and cooperation of Atlanta Hillel-Federation, is opening “The Kosher Corner” at Cox Hall Cafe teria on the Emory campus. The Kosher Corner consists of a Kosher Dining Club, exclusive to members only, and a “New York style” kosher deli—open to the general public. The Kosher Corner will be under strict rabbinical supervision. “Our goal is to be actively re sponsive to the student and fulfill all food service needs,” said Tom Brandt, head of ARA, Emory’s dining service. “The establishment of the first Kosher Corner at a uni versity in the southeast is one more step toward accomplishing that goal.” The Kosher Dining Club is de signed for students and members of the Emory community who wish to keep kosher. Hot meals will be provided six nights a week, Sun day through Thursday (the meals served at Cox Hall will be provided by Arthur’s). Hillel will provide Shabbat dinner at 7 p.m. in the Atlanta Hillel House on Clifton Road. The deli will provide kosher foods available to the general public. Anyone can eat lunch and dinner at the deli which will feature kosher hot dogs, sliced meats (pastrami, salami, bologna), sauerkraut, knishes, french fries, kosher dills, breads (rye, pumpernickel, etc.) Doctor Brown’s soda and the like. The deli will also be under rab binical supervision and will be open for lunch Sunday through Friday (l T.30 a.m.-l:30 p.m.) and dinner Sunday through Thursday (5-6 p.m.) For more information, contact Rabbi Zvi Shaprio, 634-6664.
