Young Leadership Award
goes to Arnovitz, Snyder
Eliot Arnovitz and Gary Snyder
have been named as recipients of
the 1986 Abe Schwartz Young
Leadership Award, according to
Betty R. Jacobson, president of the
Atlanta Jewish Federation.
The prestigious award, presented
annually by the Atlanta Jewish
Federation, honors outstanding
service to the Jewish community
by young leaders. Eligibility is based
on contributions to the communi
ty’s development and growth
through participation in Jewish
organizations. Established in 1967,
the award is named in memory of
Abe Schwartz, a past president of
Federation interested in encourag
ing young people’s commitment to
the Jewish community.
Arnovitz is a member of the
Atlanta Jewish Federation’s board
of trustees. He has served as chair
man of the Federation’s Education/
Allocations Committee and has
been active in the Federation's an
nual fundraising campaign as chair
man of the Metro and Real Estate
Divisions, and most recently as
vice chairman of Trades and Pro
fessions. He is also a graduate of
the Federation’s Goldstein Lead
ership Enrichment Program, and
was a member of the United Jewish
Appeal’s National Young Leader
ship Cabinet. He served on the
board of the Atlanta Jewish Com
munity Center and is a board
member of the Hebrew Academy
and the Ahavath Achim Synagogue,
and Treasurer of the Standard
Town and Country Club of Atlanta.
Arnovitz is president of M & P
Shopping Centers. He is a member
of the DeKalb Chamber of Com
merce and DeKalb Unit of the
American Cancer Society.
Snyder is also a member of the
Federation’s board of trustees. He
has served as chairman of the Fed
eration’s Shalom Atlanta Commit
tee and was a member of the Fed
eration’s Leadership Development
Committee. He is a graduate of the
Goldstein Leadership Enrichment
Program, and served as Atlanta
area chairman of the United Jew
ish Appeal’s National Young
Leadership Cabinet. Snyder is a

Arnovitz and Snyder were
honored by the Federation board
of trustees at the August board
meeting. They will be recognized
by the Council of Jewish Federa
tions along with Young Leader
ship Award winners from commu
nities throughout North America
at the General Assembly to be held
in Chicago in November.
