He is a division controller for Computone Systems in Dunwoody. He is the son of Ruth and A1 Alhadeff of Atlanta. * * * Sol B. Kolack, head of National Field Services and Eastern Area director for the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai BTith, has been appointed director of the league’s Community Service Division, in charge of the agency’s 31 regional offices throughout the United States. He succeeds Thomas Neu mann, who will become director of the League’s Intergroup Relations Division. Both men are members of ADL’s Administrative Staff. Wayne Feinstein has been elected executive vice president-designate. Recipients of the annual scho larship grants from the Joseph N. Katz Memorial Fund have been announced for the 1986-87 school year. Scholarship recipients are Tracy D. Pearson, Rachel Lyter, Mar- diny Chhean Ung, Arbaham T. Stern, Rabbi Mordecai Kamenet- zky. Rabbi Eliyahu Back, Mayer S. Abramowitz, Rafael Y. Konikov, Sholom A. Weinberger and Abra ham Weiss. The grants are made in memory of Katz, founder of Empire Kosher Foods Inc. Children and spouses of Empire employees and persons attending Jewish institutions of higher edu cation are eligible for the scholar ships. Rabbi Marc Eli Saperstein, associate professor of Jewish Studies at Harvard Divinity School, has been named the Gloria M. Goldstein Professor of Jewish History at Washing ton University in St. Louis. Saperstein will teach Holo caust studies, the history of anti-Semitism, Jewish-Christian relations in Europe through the end of the 18th century, the Bible and Jewish tradition and Israel. He will also participate in the university’s committees on Judaic and Near Eastern studies and religious studies. * * * Rabbi Alvin Sugarman, spirit ual leader of The Temple, was one of the Yedidim honored during the Rabbinic Alumni Luncheon of Hebrew Union College-Jewish In stitute of Religion. The Yedidim are rabbis who have shown support of the Col lege-Institute’s Year-in-Israel Pro gram. This program, begun 16 years ago, requires all rabbinic students to spend their first year of semi nary training studying Hebrew at the Jerusalem School. The rab binic students also work on kib butzim; volunteer as tutors in underprivileged neighborhoods; dig at archaeological sites; and are exposed to the fullness of contem porary Israeli life and culture.
