We’re Back! After what seemed to be a short, although a hot and dry, summer (the hottest and driest on record), the AJCC’s Center Spot is back on the pages of The Southern Israelite. Although it was a rough summer for crops, it was a great summer for kids and the Center is proud to have provided camping services to over 2,000 children and youth during this past summer. Ask the parents who sent children to Camp Barney Medintz, AJECOMCE Day Camp pro grams, Camp K’Ton at Zaban and Camp K’Ton Satellite, and I think you will find that the responses of the parents are that their children had a really great experience at camp this summer. AJECOMCE Day Camp Celebrates 25 Years This weekend, Sept. 13 and 14, AJECOMCE Weekend, in celebration of 25 years of service to the children of Atlanta, presents two programs: Saturday, Sept. 13—Peachtree Under the Stars with the ATLANTA RHYTHM SECTION, an open air concert on the athletic fields of the Center’s Peachtree facility. (Tickets on sale at all S.E.A.T.S. locations and can be purchased at the Peachtree and Zaban buildings.) Assigned Seating—a limited number of chairs and tables are available at $20 a ticket. Assigned seating tickets are available at Peachtree and Zaban facilities only. Sunday, Sept. 14, from 1-9 p.m., the AJE COMCE 25th weekend celebration committee is pleased to announce CARNIVAL 25. Carnival 25 will take place at the Zaban Park grounds, 5342 Tilly Mill Road, and admission to the Carnival is free. A modest charge will be made for the food, games and rides. All proceeds are to benefit AJECOMCE Day Camp programs and scholarships funds. During the past 25 years, the lives of tens of thousands of campers, parents of campers, staff and committee people have been impacted by AJECOMCE Day Camp. If you have a child who was a camper at the Day Camp; if you were a camper yourself, or a staff member, or a member of the AJECOMCE Committee, you owe it to your self and your family to support the AJECOMCE Day Camp 25th Anniversary Celebrations. Saturday night’s concert will be an event to remember and Sunday’s Carnival will be a fun experience for the entire family. Please call Rick Froelich, chairperson of the AJECOMCE Alumni Committee, if there are mem ories you’d like to share, 451-5765. The Westin Peachtree Plaza Atlanta How come we’re so good at kosher catering? AXfe know how to observe the laws tastefully. If only it were enough to be Atlanta’s only hotel with a completely kosher kitchen! After all, ours is sanctioned by Orthodox rabbinic authority. And a mashgiach oversees every superb dish our chefs create. But who knows how kosher is kosher? We do. We know the original laws * well, we can follow them faithfully ... „d still prepare exciting dishes that will be the envy of all your friends. Our catering department at 659-1400, extension 2458, can tell you all about our kosher catering They can also tell you about our excellent facilities for bar mitzvahs, bas mitzvahs, weddings, receptions, fund raisers —whatever. You could simply make your next event a kosher one. Then again, you could make it kosher and have it at The Wbstin Peachtree Plaza. PAGE 13 THE SOUTHERN ISRAELITE September 12, 1986
