Edwin Goldwasser was elected
national commander of the Jewish
War Veterans of the USA at its
91st national convention in
Honolulu.
Goldwasser, a Korean war
veteran, has been active in the
JWV for over 26 years.

Sloane Roxane Blair of Sa
vannah recently received her
bachelor of arts degree from the
University of Georgia, where
she was elected a member of
Golden Key, Phi Kappa Phi
and Alpha Epsilon Delta honor
societies. She will continue her
studies at the West Virginia
University School of Medicine.
Blair served as a volunteer to
the Athens Division of Social
Services, where she was involved
with the tutorial program. She
was a member of Delta Phi
Epsilon sorority and the Ger
man Club. She received aca
demic recognition for outstand
ing excellence in German, and
has returned from spending the
summer in Germany.
Blair is the daughter of Max
ine G. Blair of Savannah and
the late Milton D. Blair.

New York attorney Seymour
Reich was recently elected presi
dent of B’nai B'rith International,
the world’s largest Jewish service
organization.
J.L. (Jake) Goldstein of Mil-
ledgeville was recently elected
chairman of the Baldwin County
Democratic Committee.
Goldstein was also elected by
city voters to serve another term on
the board of Georgia Military Col
lege as vice chairman.

Avner Yaniv, senior lecturer in
political science at the University
of Haifa, and a specialist in inter
national security problems and
Middle East affairs, has been ap
pointed visiting Israeli professor at
Georgetown University in Wash
ington, D.C., for 1986-87. His ap
pointment marks the 10th year
that a distinguished Israeli scholar
has joined Georgetown’s govern
ment department.
A native of Jerusalem, Yaniv
was director of the Institute for
Middle Eastern studies and chair
man of the Jewish-Arab Center,
both at the University of Haifa.
Previously, he was director of a
research project on the European
community at the Jerusalem Van
Leer Institute.
