The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Taylor. Hadassah will celebrate its 70th birthday in Atlanta at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at a dinner at the Peachtree Plaza Hotel. Judith Epstein, former national president of Hadassah, will be the guest speaker. Her incisive com ments «vbout international affairs have made her a welcome speaker in Atlanta on several previous oc casions. The evening will include a salute to past presidents, and orig inal entertainment. Esther Taylor, one of Atlanta Hadassah’s early presidents, will be honorary chairman for the event. Mrs. Taylor has been active not only in the Zionist movement, but in civic, cultural and social welfare causes. Local Hadassah leadership spearheading the activities for the evening include Rae Sternberg, chairman of the 70th Anniversary Gala; Sara Alterman, chairman of the Host Committee; and Hazel Karp, program chairman. Assisting the committee chair men are Rae Frank, Alice Kaplan, Dora Smith and Irene Schwartz for the Host Committee; Virginia Saul and Helen Spiegel for arrange ments; and Ernie Dryer and Col leen Weston, Invitations. Seventy past regional, chapter and group presidents will serve as members of the Host Committee. Hadassah in Atlanta has grown from 15 charter members to 2,800. Nationally, there are 385,000 mem bers. The organization began in 1912 when Henrietta Szoldandthe Daughters of Zion Study Circle drafted their two-part program of American education and public health nursing in Palestine. Hen rietta Szold’s far-reaching ideals later led her to become the first director of Youth Aliyah and to establish Hadassah vocational ed ucation. The entire community is invited to join Hadassah in its 70th Anni versary Gala. There will be no fund raising at the celebration. Cost of the dinner is $36 a person; reserva tions can be made through members of the Host Committee.
