Haifa, the Golan Height, Tiber,as and Jerusalem The group also toured an Israeli Air Force base, went rafting on the Jordan and hiked in the countryside. 1 he> also attended workshops and lectures dealing with Israeli politics and economics. Two former'Atlantans now living in Chicago, Andy Rinzler and Joanne Gold, also went on the mission. Shabtai addresses B&P Women Dr. Sabi Shabtai, an interna tionally recognized authority on terrorism, hijacking and acts of political violence, was the keynote speaker at the Atlanta Jewish Fed eration’s Business and Professional Women’s opening event. The 100 women in attendance learned how Israel has effectively dealt with the problem of terror ism. gaining acceptance for anti terrorist actions and greatly reduc- ingthe threat of terrorist attacks in Israel. According to Dr. Shabtai. the real threat faced by Israel today is the ability to tackle economic prob lems. Eve Goldstein is vice presi dent of Federation’s Business and Professional Women. Barbara Mays and Lynne Levine served as co-chairmen for the Bus iness and Professional Women's opening event. YLC to discuss Soviet Jewry The plight of Soviet Jewry will be the topic for Federation’s Young Leadership Council’s next event to be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Atlanta Jewish Federa tion, 1753 Peachtree Road. The second in a monthly series of events planned for the YLC, the program will feature a "personal ized" update on Soviet Jewry in an informal dialogue with recent vis itors to the Soviet Union. The program will also prepare the YLC to be active participants in the Simchat Torah Rally for Soviet Jewry, Monday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at The Temple. Both events are free. The Young Leadership Council is designed to appeal to the broad range ol interests of young Jewish adults with an emphasis on educa tion, leadership development, cam paign and outreach.
