.* .. ***** .«. .... r BBYO’s Shalom chapter a boon for special children Atlanta’s B’nai B’rith Youth Organization is one of only two BBYO programs in the country that has a chapter for children with special needs. The Shalom chapter activites combine the best of BBYO with activities that are specific to its members’ needs, and they partici pate in such programs as the BBYO/Achim Lodge Maccabiah Games, Atlanta Council Runoffs and the Atlanta Council Dance. The chapter was started 10 years ago by Terri Wolkow, who was later joined by Loli Roffwarg and Pam Kronenberg. They plan and schedule programs, arrange trans portation for the members and serve as chaperons. Shalom chap ter is often involved with other AZA and BBG chapters and offers its members programs in Jewish heritage, athletics, community ser vice at the Jewish Home, as well as cultural and social programming, all geared to the abilities of the members. The chapter is also supported by the Atlanta Lodge of B’nai B’rith.
