The Palmer Ramah commit tee meeting will take place from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at the home of Larry and Eileen J oseph. Representatives from Maine to Florida will convene for a day of planning and decision-making. The meeting is open to anyone interested in Camp Ramah at Palmer, Mass. There will be a recruitment meeting at 7:30 p.m. New brochures, applications and a new video will be shown and distributed, along with new slides and promos from this past sum mer. The slide show and a Ramah representative will visit the Ep stein School Monday, Nov. 17, to help promote the 1987 season. For more information, call Dana Scott, 355-3324. Gate City B’nai B’rith Gate City Lodge #144 B’nai B’rith is now taking nominations for its 1986 Distinguished Ser vice Award which will be pre sented at its annual award dinner Saturday, Jan. 24, 1987, at the Colony Square Hotel. Nominations will be accepted from lodge members and the community-at-large. The award is given annually to an Atlantan who, on behalf of the city, “best exemplifies the spirit and pre cepts of B’nai B’rith—benevo lence, brotherly love and har mony—by reason of his or her accomplishments and unceasing and devoted efforts for the ad vancement of the Jewish com munity.” To recommend someone for the award, mail nominations to Max Rittenbaum, Award Com mittee Chairman, Gate City Lodge B’nai B’rith, 165 West Wieuca Road, N.E., Suite 209, Atlanta, Ga. 30342. For more information, call the office at 851-9705. AJCC classes The Atlanta Jewish Commun ity Center will have ongoing classes in Tai-Chi Chuan Mon day, Nov. 10. Herb Goldberg will be the instructor. Tai-Chi Chuan is a slow, rhyth mical, Chinese exercise, self-de fense and meditation. New stu dents can start at any time. Cost is $35 a month for mem bers; $50 a month for non-mem bers. Youth Groups Soviet Jewry Rally Many of Atlanta’s Jewish youth groups will take part in the Soviet Jewry rally at The Temple on Monday, Oct, 27. The rally starts at 7:30 p.m.; however, members of BBYO, Young Judaea and other youth groups will meet at the AJCC/Peachtree to march together to The Temple. Shearith Israel Women Shearith Israel Sisterhood will hold a Book Sale in observance of Jewish Book Month Sunday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m.-noon at the synagogue building and religious school. Books for children, reference books, fiction and life-cycle books, as well as holiday gift books will be on display. The community is invited. JWV-Ladies Auxiliary Officer L.R. Sheffield of the Atlanta Police Department Crime Prevention Bureau will bring the Crime Prevention van for inspec tion by the Mack Frankel Atlanta Post 112. Jewish War Veterans and its Ladies Auxiliary, when they hold the first meeting of the 1986-87 season at 8 p.m. Mon day, Nov. 3 at the Post 112 Home, 3840 Roswell Road. Solel couples unit B’nai B’rith’s new couples unit will hold a general meeting at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at the B’nai B’rith District Five Office, 7001 Peachtree Industrial Boule vard. Solel is a group for mature couples interested in a service organization as well as social activities, culture, fun and friend ship. The purpose of the meeting is to encourage membership and participation in the chapter’s goals and projections.
