THE SOUTHERN ISRAELITE November 7, 1986 Page 17 celebreating its centennial year excited to do it.” The committee plans two additional exhibits to commemorate Ahavath Achim’s centennial year. The second, which begins at the top of next month, will highlight all of the synagogue’s auxiliary organizations, including the Sisterhood, the Brotherhood, the Mr. and Mrs. Club, the Free Loan Society and Chevra Kadisha. The second exhibit will also feature the development and growth of A A’s educa tional component, from the early days of the United Hebrew School to the Epstein School, which will relocate to its new loca tion at the Underwood Hills School in September of next year. Goldstein said the third exhibit will focus on the staffs that have made the synagogue and the schools function—the rabbis, cantors, Hebrew school teachers and the like. “It will include all those peo ple who really are a part of the evolution of the synagogue,” she said, adding that she expects that exhibit in particular to draw a lot of attention. A special feature of the third exhibit will be the segment devoted to families who have been members of the congrega tion from generation to generation. In fact, “From Generation to Genera tion” is the working title of the book Goldstein is writing about Ahavath Achim’s Centennial. It will be an over sized coffee table book, replete with his torical narrative, photographs and quota tions. Atlanta author Norman Shavin, a member of the congregation, is handling the production end of the book, which she expects to complete by May of next year. The third exhibit will also feature an “honor roll,” which will note the contribu tions Ahavath Achim members have made both inside and outside Atlanta’s Jewish community.
