AJCC Presents “Bookends” November 22-23 at Peachtree The Jewish people have always been known as the “People of the Book.” There are an array of customs, such as kissing books, closing them when not in use, which Jews apply to holy books. Jewish literature is crammed with references to the nobility of books. Books about Jews, about Israel, best sellers by Jews and about Jews, represent a disproportionate percentage of the best-seller lists. It should not be surprising there fore, that the AJCC’s Annual Book Fair, Satur day, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23, this year called “Bookends” is one of our most looked- forward-to and successful programs. In addition to the Book Shuk, where you can wander through bookstalls filled with children’s books, books on cooking, Judaica, books in Hebrew and gift books, records and tapes, used and new books, Chassidic books and rare books, there are several special events that you shouldn’t miss.
