Pecan Bars
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. instant coffee
(not freeze-dried)
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup margarine
1/4 cup sugar
2 cups flour
Cut into 30 squares while still
warm.
Mix together and put into a
yxl3-mch pan. Bake at 350 de
grees for 15 minutes. Cool.
Beat eggs with sugars and
vanilla until fluffy. Add remain
ing ingredients. Put into a greased
8-inch pan. Bake in 350 degree
oven for 20 minutes. When warm,
cut into 15 bars.
Filling
2 eggs
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsps. flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup raisins
1 cup shredded coconut
Oatmeal-Sesame Squares
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup sesame seeds
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
2 sticks margarine
2 tbsps. honey
3/4 tsp. baking soda
Coconut Squares
Crust
Mix together all ingredients
except the coconut. Pour over
the crust. Sprinkle cup of coco
nut on top. Bake for 20 minutes.
Mix all ingredients together.
Bake in an ungreased 9x13-inch
pan at 350 degrees for 20 minutes
or until golden. Score while hot.
Cool, then cut into 30 squares.

used book sale. Mrs. Glenda Min
kin who is chairing the 1977
event says the sale of used books
means increased dollars for the
Brandeis University Library and
the recycling of knowlege and
education throughout the Atlanta
community.

Congregation B’nai B’rith
Jacob of Savannah will lay the
cornerstone for its new $600,000
synagogue on Nov. 23. One of
the most influential orthodox
s ynagogues in the south, B’nai
B’rith Jacob was organized in
I860. Its present rabbi, Abraham
I Rosenberg, and president, Louis
Wexler, have announced some of
the details of the upcoming
ceremony. The names of 33 liv-
ln g members who were also
members in 1909, when the cor
nerstone of the present building
was set, will be engraved on a
silver trowel for the new build
ing A capsule containing the the
membership list of the congrega-
l ‘ 0n will be placed within the new
cornerstone.

The magnificent Chagall win-
°ws, depicting the twelve tribes
of Israel, will be shown Irom
Nov 10 through Jan. 3 at the
Museum of Modern Art in New
York City. Then they will be
shipped to Israel for installation
in the Hadassah Medical Center
Synagogue. The 73-year-old artist
labored for two years on the
windows using all shades of red,
blue, yellow, and green in apoca-

pletion Chagall was satisfied that
