Organizations THE SOUTHERN ISRAELITE November 28, 1986 Page 19 A new beginning Students of the first class of The Country School who recently received books marking the beginning of Torah Study are Anna Becker, Danny Berke, Lamar Fryst, Adam Goldstein, Tammy Josephs, Jeremy Kirtz, Lenny Rindsberg, Laurel Rosenberg, Jessica Sayer, Brian Silver, Jamie 1 anenhaum and Erica Wydra, with teachers Brenda Jacobson and Aliza Isaacson. The books were given out at a Simhat Torah celebration that began with a parade in which students dressed as Torahs and led the way. A candle-lighting processional followed with third and fourth grade students forming an aisle for fifth and sixth graders to walk through. Richard Becker, school director, introduced Rabbi Barry Friedman of Temple Emanu-EI and Rabbi Juda Mintz of B'nai Torah, who participated in the program. Epstein School The Epstein School will hold its annual Hanuka Celebration at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Ahavath Achim Synagogue. After a performance by the students, latkes and doughnuts will be served. Cost is $3.50 a person. All children in a kindergarten or a pre-first grade class are invited free, as well as children under 2. Womens American ORT Tri-County The Tri-County Chapter of Women’s American ORT will hold its Hanuka meeting at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at AJCC/Zaban. The Hanuka dinner will be fol lowed by dancing with Israeli dance instructor M irra Alexander. All members and prospective members are invited. For more information, call Judy Jay at 395-1015. Young Couples Club The Atlanta Jewish Young Couples Club will have a Han uka party at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish. Children are welcome. Jewish War Veterans Bicentennial Post #976 Bicentennial Sentry Post #976 will hold its regular breakfast meeting at I 1 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Radisson Inn, 1-285 and Chamblee Dunwoody Road. Cost is $5.50 a person. All new members will take their J WV obligation and receive a JWV pin. Certificates of awards will be given. The Country School The Country School Ltd. will hold its annual Hanuka party for students and their families at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16. Entertainment will be provided by the students. B'nai B’rith Chevra Chapter The Chevra Chapter of B’nai B’rith Women will celebrate Han uka at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8 at the home of Phyllis Shusterman. Before the party, there will be a brief meeting to elect Chevra’s nominating committee. Admission is a dairy dish to serve six. For more information, call 395-9557 or 396-1349. Nashe Shalom The Nashe Shalom Chapter of B’nai B’rith Women will meet at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the home of Sandy Cohen. The speaker will be Dr. Charles Epstein, director of the Sleep Disorder Clinic of Emory University. He will speak about problems associated with sleep.
