I enjoyed camp and I got tanner and tanner.” After he came home he planned a 25th anniversary party for his parents. Dr. and Mrs. Charles Rosenberg, with his brother I.J., a sports writer for the Atlanta papers. “My parents deserved it after what they went through. Then I decided to go back to school.” His mother. Bunny, reports that Sammy is making As and Bs in what he describes as a “heavy, stimulating course load.” With the new medicine he has more energy, is getting lots more exer cise, and is enjoying good health. “I feel like in six months 1 did three years’ worth of maturing that had been suppressed before.” Sammy says he bikes or runs four or five miles a day, does aerobics and weight lifting three or four days a week. He finds all these to be wonderful means of relaxation. Sammy’s ambition is to earn a Ph.D. in child and adolescent psychology and to help make the lives of other young people eas ier. He wants them to learn that “life goes on, and they can make something of themselves.” The Rosenberg family is active ly working to help other patients and parents of TS children. A Tourette Syndrome Association of Georgia has been formed to make educators aware of the dis order and its symptoms, which are often mistakenly diagnosed in school as behavioral problems. The association hopes to reduce the time lapse between onset of TS and proper diagnosis and to provide services to those in need of assistance. No government funding is available so contributions are being sought to open an Atlanta office. Its purpose is to provide education programs, professional services, parent rap sessions, patient support groups and a twice-a-year newsletter of re sources for both families and the medical community.
