tery.
Mr. Berkowit/ was a member
of Ahavath Achim Synagogue,
an active member of the Min-
vonaires Group and a member of
the Atlanta Jewish Community
Center as well as a contributing
member of the Jewish Home.
A member of Associated Gro
cers. Mr. Berkowit/ operated his
own grocery store for over 40
years.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Rose Silver/weig Berkowit/;
daughters. Dr. HelenTulis, Mrs.
Shirley Brickman, and Mrs.
Marilyn Benveniste, all of Atlan
ta; grandchildren, David and
Martin Tulis, Lori Brickman
Morse, Teresa Brickman Finer.
Jeffrey Brickman, Mark, Mar
shall and Melissa Benveniste; and
great-grandson, Jason Morse.

Leo Neuhaus
Leo Neu ha us of Atlanta died
Friday, Nov. 28. He was 65.
Graveside service was held
Sunday, Nov. 30, at Crest Lawn
Memorial Park. Rabbi Judah
Kogen and Cantor Isaac Good-
friend officiated.
M r. Neuhaus was a survivor of
the Holocaust. He was incarcer
ated in seven concentration
camps, the last was Auschwitz.
He was a member of Shearith
Israel Synagogue.
Survivors include his wife.
Mrs. Bella Neuhaus of Atlanta;
and a son. Mr. Sidney Neuhaus
of Atlanta.
Arnold Kanarek
Arnold Kanarek of Atlanta
died Friday, Nov. 28. He was 65.
Graveside service was held
I uesday. Dee. 2 at Crest Lawn
Memorial Park. Rabbi Emanuel
Feldman officiated.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs.
Michalina C. Kanarek of Atlan
ta; daughters, Mrs. Margaret
Vermeesch and Miss Mirka Ka

Dr. George Chait
Dr. George Chait of Atlanta
died Tuesday, Dee. 2. He was 92.
Graveside service was held
Wednesday, Dee. 3, at Crest
Lawn Cemetery, with Rabbi
Samuel W einstein officiating.
A native of Kovna, Russia, he
immigrated to the United States
m I912. He enlisted in the U.S.
Army in I918 and began dental
school at the Atlanta Southern
Dental College, now the Emory
University Dental School. Gra
duating in 192 L Dr. Chait prac
ticed dentistry until his retire
ment in 1965. He then taught at
the Atlanta School of Medical
and Dental Careers until 1983.
Dr. Chait was a member of the
American Dental Association, the
Georgia Dental Association and
the Northern District Dental
Association. He was a founding
member of the Mayfair Club, a
member of B'nai B'rith, and was
affiliated with the Massed Den
tal Clinic. He was also a Mason
and a Shnner.
He was married to Mrs. Dena
Danziger Chait for 63 years, until
her death last April. He was a
member of The Temple.
Survivors include a son, Dr.
Donald C. Chait of Atlanta; sis
ter, Mrs. Dora Palais of New
York; and three grandsons.
Contributions can be made to
the rabbi’s discretionary fund at
The Temple.

Mrs. Ida Blumenthal. 90. of
Atlanta died Monday, Dec. I.
Graveside service was held

Mrs. Dorothy Segal of Atlanta,
Mrs. Margie Greenberg of Dun-
woody; son, Philip Blumenthal
of Dunwoody;sisters, Mrs. Fran
cis Soloman and Mrs. Minnie
Springer, both of Atlanta; seven
grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren.
