Joe Frank Harris proclaims ORT Week in Georgia during the recent 16th national ORT Board Conference. Accepting the proclamation is Beth Smith (center), Atlanta Region president. Giving thanks Torah Day School first graders experience an Early Ameri can Thanksgiving after studying about this country’s pilgrim and Indian populations with their teacher, Mrs. Linda Rabino- witz. The children dyed cloth with vegetable dyes, compiled Thanksgiving cookbooks and made harvest sacks. The highlight of the harvest-time meal was Friendship Soup. Each child demonstrated friendship by contributing one ingredient to the soup. In one child’s opinion: “This was the best day of my whole life.” Club One, Na’Amat USA (formerly Pioneer Women) will present a Manuka program at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the Jewish Tower. The speaker will be Rabbi Steven Lebow of Temple Kol Emeth. The rabbi will speak about Manuka and will sing Israeli and Manuka songs. Sponsors are Irene Becker, Tania Goldstein, Lee Kolkin, Mary Levine and Blanche Rock- itter. A light lunch will be served. Members and friends are invited. Golda Meir Chapter The Golda Meir Chapter of Na’Amat USA (formerly Pioneer Women) will host a tea at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at the home of Mrs. Jack (Adeline) Bauman, 1744 Reindeer Drive. Arthur Roll, Israeli vice con sul of the Southeastern District, will speak on “The Relations Be tween American Jews and Israel as Seen by an Israeli Vice Consul in Atlanta.” Hostesses are Adeline Bauman, Rose Pousner, Yetta Shuman and Evelyn Taratoot. B’nai B’rith Women B'nai B’rith Women Mitzvah Chapter will hold a Hanuka party to benefit the residents of Annandale Village at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14 at the home of Barbara Schall, 3742 Summit- ridge Drive. Everyone is asked to bring a small gift (wrapped) that can be given to the residents. Annan dale Village is a home for men tally retarded adults in Gwinnett County. AJCC Adult Services AJCC will sponsor a “Walk lor Wellness” every Monday and Friday from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a m. beginning Dec. 15, outdoors (weather permitting) or indoors. Margaret Almond, a health care professional from Piedmont Hospital, will lead an orientation session that will focus on foot care, appropriate shoes and clo thing and warm-up and cool down procedures.
