Larfcin Cleveland. S
To the Honorable the Superior Court of said county.
T HE petition of; Robert Mitchell sheweth, that
heretofore, to wit: on the seventh day ot Au
gust, eighteen hundred and thirty, that the said 1 jar-
kin Cleveland, made, executed and delivered to jour
petitioner his certain deed of Mortgage, bearing date
tho day and year aforesaid, which is here in Court
ready to be shewn, which deed of mortgage convey
ed to your petitioner two lots in the Town of Gaines
ville, Hall county, Georgia, known by lots number
six and number twenty, in the said town of Gaines
ville, being tho House and Lots then occupied by
Jonas W. Shaw; which said two town lots were mort
gaged by the said Larkin Cleveland, for the better se
curing to your petitioner the payment of a certain
promissory note, made and delivered to your peti
tioner by the said Larkin Cleveland, for the sum of
two thousand five hundred dollars, dated on the day
and year aforesaid, and due on the first day of Jan
uary, eighteen hundred and thirty-three, to bear in
terest after the first day of January eighteen hun dred
and thirty-one, and which is here in court ready to
bo shown.
And your petitioner further sheweth, that the
whole amount of principal and interest is now due
and unpaid on said note: Wherefore he prays that
unless the said Larkin Cleveland docs pay into the
Clerk’s office of this Court, the amount of the princi
pal, interest and cost due thereon, within six months
from this date, the equity of redemption in and to the
mortgaged premises thenceforth and forever be bar
red and foreclosed.
Therefore, on motion of counsel for plaintiff, it is
ordered by the Court, that tho said Larkin Cleveland
pay into the Clerk’s office of this Court, the amount
of the principal] and interest now due on said-, note,
together with all legal cost, on or before the expira
tion of six months, otherwise the equity of Redemp
tion, in and to the mortgaged premises, bo forever
barred and foreclosed, and that a copy of this rule
and petition be published once a month for six months
in some one of the public Gazettes of this State, or
that the defendant be served therewith three months
before the next sitting of this Court.

are to be observed:
1st. The duties of the Assistant Postmasters Gen-
neral, Chief Clerk and Subordinates, are distributed
into three divisions.
The first, the Southern Division, under tlie super
intendence ofC. K. Garit.’sr, the Senior Assistant,
will comprise the States of
Virginia, (with tho Dist. of Columbia,) Louisiana,
North Carolina, - Arkansas Territory,
South Carolina, 1 - Tennessee,
Georgia, - Kentucky,
Florida Territory, Indiana,
Alabama, Illinois,
Mississippi, Missouri.
The second, the Northern Division, under the su
perintendence of S. K. Hobbie, Assistant, will com-
prise the States of
Maine, New York,
New Hampshire, New Jersey,
Vermont, Delaware,
Massachusetts, Maryland,
Rhode Island, Pennsylvania,
Connecticut, Ohio,
and Michigan Territory.
2d. Each of these Divisions shall embrace an of.
fice of Appointments and Instructions, and an office
of Moil Contracts ; the office of Mail Depredations
to remain as at present organized, auxiliary to both.
3d. To each of these Divisions shall be assigned
four Corresponding Clerks, two for the office of Mail
Contracts, and two for the office of Appointments
ana Instructions, a Contract Clerk, an Appointment
Clerk, a Route Book Clerk, a Recording Clerk, and
Clerks for registering orders, fines, and other mis.

5th. The Senior Assistant will be charged with the
business of procuring Mail Portmanteaus, Canvass
Bags, Locks and Keys, and with all the incidental
duties. A clerk shall be assigned to aid him in their
performance, who, under the direction of the Assist

checks countersigned by them
Gth. The business of forwarding Blanks for Ac
counts, Locks, Keys, Post Office Lists, Laws, &.c.
shall bo performed under tho direction' of the As
sistants, within tlieir respective Divisions.
7th. The principal Clerk of the Division only,
shall sign official correspondence, and that, in c.ise of
the absence of the Assistant.
8th. The third. Division, will be that of finance,
under the superintendence of the Chief Clerk, O. B.
Brown, who shall be the Treasurer of tho Depart-
meat. There shall be under his control the “ Book
Keepers,” the “ Solicitor’s Office,” the “ Pay Of
ficer the “ Examiner’s Office,” the “ Register’s Of
fice,” and the “ Dead Letter Office,” to the last of
which sltfill be attached the business of the general
letter file.
9th. No money shall be paid into the Department,
directly to the Treasurer, nor paid out of it, directly
by him.
19th. When payments are made for transportation,
either to meet drafts made by Contractors, or to be
forwarded to them, the principal Pay Clerk shall fur-
nish the Treasurer with alistofihe checks required
having his certificate annexed that it is correct. The
Treasurer, if be approves the list, shall add the word
Approved,” with his signature. The checks shall
be then drawn, ent9red and signed, by the Treasurer,

-m- Bryson, respectfully shows that heretofore, to
wit: on the seventh day of May, eighteen hundred
and thirty-two, that the said Larkin Cleveland and
Thomas S. T >te, made, executed and delivered to
your petitioners, their certain deed of mortgage .tear
ing date tho day and year aforesaid, which is here in
Court ready to be shown—which deed of mortgage
(among other things) conveyed to your petitioners
two lots in the Town of Gainesville, Hail County,
Georgia, to wit: .Lot number two in the Town of
Gainesville, being tho House and lot then occupied
by the said Thomas 8. Tate, and lot number twenty-
eight in the town of Gainesville, then occupied by
the said Thomas 8. Tate, for a Gin-House lot, which
two town lots wore mortgaged by the said Lari in
Cleveland and Thomas S. Tate, for the lietter seen
ring to your petitioners the payment of a certain
promissory note made and delivered to your petition
ers (by the name and style of W. and H. Bryson) by
the said Larkin Cleveland and Thomas S. Tate, for
the sum of two thousand eight hundred and sixty-two
dollars and forty cents, dated on the seventh day of
May, eighteen hundred and thirty two, and due one
day after date, and which is here in Court shewn,
(and which was to be paid to your petitioners on the
first day of March next thereafter, with interest from
date.)
And your petitioners further shew that the whole
amount of principal and interest on said note is now
due and unpaid: Wherefore they pray, that unless
the said Larkin and Thomas S. pay into the Clerk’s
office of this Court the amount of the principal, in
terest ana cost due thereon, within six months from
this date, the equity of redemption in and to the
mortgaged premises thenceforth and forever be fore
closed.
Therefore, on motion of counsel for plaintiff, it is
ordered by the Court, that the said Larkin Cleveland
and Thomas S. Tate, pay into the Clerk’s office of
this Court, the amount of the principal and interest
now due on said note, together with ail legal cost,
on or belorc the expiration of six months, otherwise
tho equity of redemption in and to the mortgaged
premises be forever barred and forclosed, and that
copy of tlfis rule and |ietition be published once a
month for six months in some one of tho public Ga.
zottes of this-.State, or that the defendants be person,
ally served therewith, three months before the next
sitting of this Court.
