Tlie Annual Treasury Kcport.
Hie Annual Report of tlie Secretary of
the Treasury was received in Congress yes
terday, from which we have with great liasle
skimmed the following particulars ;
The Receipts into the Treasury, during
the three first quarters of the present year,
with tlie estimated receipts for the foarili
quarter, from every source, [including loans
nmi 'iVoirstiry notes] amount to thirty four
millions five hundred mid two thousand dol
lars, besides the balance of two hunched and
thirty thousand m tiic Treasury on tlie first
of January last.
The Expenditures for the threefirst quar
ters of tlte year, with tlie estimated expendi
ture for the remaining quarter, amount [in
cluding 87,856,41)0 for redemption of Trea
sury notes] to thirty four millions five hun
dred and three thousand dollars.
'flip Receipts for 1 he half year ending 1st
July next, are esl limited [including Treasu
ry notes aifti loan to amount of $5,53S,lH'9]
ut $14,5SS,U3; and the. Expenditures lor
the same period [including interest on debt
and Treasury Holes to amount of 8605,00(1]
at §10,381,186. The estimates of Receipts
and Expenditures for tlie fiscal year ending
the. •3iUh June, 1841, [under the new ar
rangement effected by tlie act of the last ses
sion,] lire estimated, the Receipts from cus
toms and public lands [and §150.000 from
miscellaneous sources] at §18,8.10,000,. and
the Expenditures [including mturesl and
Treasury notes] at §20,945,496.
The balance remaining in the Treasury
on the 30lli June, 1813, it is estimated wii]
amount to §3,731,369, and on the 30th June,
1844, to §1,635.S71. •• .
Since;the estimates were prepared at the
several Departments, it has been ascertained
that the expenditures for tlie fourth quarter
of tlie present year will Tall considerably
short of tiie amount estimated-; so that the
balance in the Treasury on the 1st January
next wiJJ be considerably larger than esti
mated ; but, ns the difference will become a
charge on tiie Treasury in tlie next year, it
has riot been deemed necessary to alter the
amount as first estimated.
The'recommendations of-the Report arc
confined to that of a further provision for
revenue*aiid .the support of public credit,
by taxation on untaxed or lightly taxed ar
ticles of import, to produce an addition to
tlie.present revenue of throe millions of dol
lars a year ; at) authority to aliow interest
on all outstanding Treasury, notes, as under
the last issue thereof; and the establishment
pof a ware-housing system. 1 , .
