Augustus II. Patterson, then of said county, made
ami delivered to John 1 . Me Curry a certain prom
issory note, bearing da's tho day and year above-
written whereby tho sr id Augustus U. Patterson,
promised one day after the date of said now, to pov
said John G. J/tCurry ir bearer, two hundred- dol
lars for value received, and said John G. McCarty,
to whom said note, wa made payable afterwards
to wit: on the day nnd year aforesaid, duly endors
ed and delivered said note to your petitioner—by
reason whereof said Augustus H. Patterson became
liable :o pay and undertook and promised to pay to
yourpetioncr the aforesaid sum of money, and that
afterwards on the nineteenth day of February in
the year aforesaid, the said Augustus H. Patterson,
the better to secure 1 sic payment of said note exe
cuted nud delivered t o said Noel Skelton, hi* deed
of Mortgage, whereby said Augustus II. Patterson,
conveyed to said Noel Skelton, lot of land No. six
teen in the town of Hartwell, in the county nnd
state aforesaid. Containing one fourth of an acre
moro or less conditioned that if said Augustus H.
Patterson should pay oil’ nnd dischnrgosaid note,or
cause it to be done accordiug to tbe tenor and effect
thereof, that then tbe said deed of Mortgage, and

said note remains unpaid, it is therefore ordtired that
the said Augustus H. Patterson do pay into Court
