After the speaking closed, Capt. A.

resolutions for the consideration of the
meeting, which article and resolutions

speake their age.
ARTICLE OF W RITING.
Whereas, our country is involved in
civil war, and numbers of our citizens
are leaving as volunteers to fight for
the liberty and rights of the same, we
the signers of this article, that are yet
behind are willing and feel it to be our
unbounded duty, to form ourselves in
to a volunteer company, uniform and
equip ourselves, in order to protect the
property and keep peace in the com
munity during their absence-
And if they should fall before victo
ry is won, and peace restored to the
laud, we are willing to tender our ser
vices to the State authorities, and fol
low those that have gone before to the
battle field, and fight for the rights of
our coutry, protection of our property,
our wives and children and our happy
fire sides.
Therefere, be it resolved, 1st. That
we the citizens of Ball. Banks, and
Jackson Counties, who are exempt
from Military duty, organize ourselves
in a volunteer company to be called
the Confederate Hume Guaids, and
elect onr officers, meet and drill as of
ten as tbe company may deem proper,
and hold ourselves in readiness to put
dowu any insurrections of squads that
may be gotten up by the enemies of
our country to do us an injury.
Resolved, 2d That, out of this com
