New York, Aug. 19.—The steamer Bo- liemian hat arrived off Farther Point. The City ol Washington and Hibernian had ar rived opt. The London Times it bitterly sarcastic on the Bull Run battle. Says the South ern nut is very hard to cmck. and fears the question ot the blockade will involve Eng land in difficult complications. Lord Palme'Slon says the entrance of du ty paying vessel into any blockaded port wipes out the blockade. A belligerent power may seal all ports, but when it lets any vessel in the right to blockade is gone. The London Herald says: “On the re ceipt ol the news Napoleon resolved to re cognize the Confederacy. Missouri Bailie. A letter from Gen. McCnlloh, dated tlio 11 th says : “The Victory is ours, Tha battle lasted six hours and a half. Out loss great. Gen. Lynn is among the dead \Ve took six pieces of artillery from Seigel, destroyed his command, captu red many prisonets and small arms.— ! cannot give tliejparticulars, bat write this to correct reports circulated by llmso who fled front the field of battle.” (3igmd.) Bex.McCulloch, Btig. Gen. Commanding. The Confederate loss is between 200 and 300 killed and -100 to 500 voun ded. Among the killed on our side are Major llnrpcr, of Churchill's Regiment, Capt. JL T. Brown, Lieut. Joo Wal ton, Capt- Hell, Lieut. Weaver, Sec retary S. Morton. Major Wade, of the 3d Regiment lost an arm and will probably die ; Capt. Stewart’s compa ny suffered greatly ; 30 or 40 of Col. Carrol's Regiment were killed. stated that the attack was commenced on Wednesday, and renewed yester day with increased vigor. A regiment, thirteen hundred strong, left Richmond on yesterday, at 10 A. M-, for the scene of action, and we expect to hear of a glorious victory on our side. At the feme of this writing, 7 P. M , Thursday, we have no particulars.—Petersburg Express. The Second Georgia Regiment, Col. Semmes, is probably the Regiment re ferred to, as that left Richmond on Wednesday last. We shall look, to hear a good account of these boys, jf they have a chance at the Hessians. Issue of Treasury Notes—War Tax. Richmond, Aug. 10 The President to day approved the act authorizing the issue of Treasury notes, and providing a wai tax for their redemption. The Secretary of the Treasury, under specified conditions, is au thorized to issue not exceeding one hundred milli on dollars ofTreasury Notes. The ac provides for a tax of fifty cents on every hundred dollars of real estate, slaves mer chandize, bank and other stocks, money at interest, excepting bonds of the Confederate States. Also, taxes at the same rate, cash on hand, catile, gold watches, gold and silver plate, pianos, pleasure carriages, &c., &e. Any family whose property is less than five hundred dollars is exempt from taxation. Colleges, schools and charitable institutions, are aiso exempt. The act passed unanimously. There are a few war rumora floating about but nothing definite. Royal Visitor.—A gentleman who came from Manassas yestorday says that Prince Napolean, of France, is on a visit to onr camp at that place. On Thursday he passed over the battle field in company with one of Gen. Beauregard’s Aids. That night he staid at Gen. Beauregard's quarters, and yesterday he was expected to dine with him. We should not wonder if the conjecture of a cotemporary prove true, that the Piiuce is among us for purpose of mediation aud peace.—Rich mond Enquirer. Rout of Hie Federalists In Missonri. Richmond, August 17.—Dispatches received here from a reliable source, reports the Confederate loss at the bat tle near Springfield Missouri, about 2,000 killed, wounded and missing. The Federal loss in killed, wounded and prisoners, is 2,500. Gen. Lyon was killed. Six cannon were taken, and a large amount of stores, wagons, &c. The Federal troops were totally routed. McCulloch and Price were in hot pursuit ol the enemy. They were con fident of capturing the whole of Ziegles’ command. llardee and Jeff. Thompson were moving Northeast, expecting to cut off Ziegles’ rt treat towards St. Louis. From tho Knoxville (Tenn.) Pniy Register. Lynchburg, Aug. 14.—The army of the Northwest, under Gen. Loring, vt last accounts was at Big Spring, Pochahon'as county. He lias now a large force under lus command, and is lowly advancing westward; but in less than a week, will, without doubt, reach Phillipa en route for Clarkesburg, where Gen. Rosencranz is encamped. Richmond, Aug. 14.—A gentleman just arrived from Washington represents the population of the Lincoln capital as being in a state bordering on re volt, and that the L'essian Government is in great alarm. The entire military force in Wash ington anil Alexandria does no exceed 35,000. It is generally estimated in Wash ington that the Federal loss in the bat lies of the 18th anil 21st July, in killed and wounded and missing amounted to twenty thousand. Latfsl from Missouri—Fremont For- IHying Si. Louis—Overthrow of lltc Federalist almost Certain. Sr. Louts, Aug. 16.— William, WaJe, Henry N. Hart, N. Ncighlcr, J. If. Blood, and A. H. Menkins have been arrested.— The Marshal has writs for the arrest of a larue number of others. The Provost Marshal has issued stringent orders against wearing con-ealed weapons. Dealers are not allowed to sell or give away arms without special permits. Brownlee has been taken to Cairo. (•cn. Thompson has possession of Pilot Kr.ob, cuttirg off communication with the Federals. The Southerners also have pos session of Potosi Junction. Ten sieamers which laid less than 15 miles below here have been brought here I y order of Fremont, to prevent thtir being taken. Col. Blair arrived here to-day. St. Louis, Aug. 17.—A messenger front Seigel reports him 1G miles this side of Holla. He had not been molested. The Democrat expresses an assurance of Seigel’s safety. Another report says only 600 men are with him, the rest having been cut off. It is believed that there are fivjor ten thousand men in the South ready and willing to share the fate of Curtins, and devote themselves to the salvation of their country. It is proposed that all who are willing to make this sacrifice, shall arm themselves with a sword, two five-shooters and a carbine each, and meet, on horse back, at some place to be designated, con venient for the great work in hand. Fire and sword must be carried to the houses of those who ar6 visiting those blessings upon their neighbors. Philadelphia, and even New York, is not beyond the reach of long and brave arm. Tho moral people of these cities cannot belter be taught the vir tues of invasion than in tho blazing light of their own dwellings. None need apply for admission to “THE DEVOTED BAND,” but those who are prepared to take their life in their hand, and who would indulge uot the least expec tation of ever returning.
