Worthy of Imitation.
ABOUT three’ years ago, in a paymertt
made Capt. James Martin, of Franklin
County, I gave him a Half-Guinea in place
of a Seven-Pence —and this day, Capt. Martin
called on me and mentioned that he had not
till now been in Augusta since he last dealt
with me, and that in our dealings then there
was a small mistake ; I replied if so it ought
to be rectified, lie then told me of the above
mistake, and returned me the money overpaid
him. In times like the present, when such
acts are rare. I hope I shall be excused by the
Captain for making this singular circumstance
public.

(,i FI Ml A 1' the young and innocent may be

Immortal Bliss, in the unerring paths oLChris
tianity ! the aged and offending be reclaimed
by the mild radiance of Gospel Truths !’*
The Beauties of Christianity appeared in the
course of a few letters published some years
j since, in one of our most popular papeis, edi
ted by a man of science—they will now re-
I ceive considerable addition by the original se
lector Jrom authors of immense value , and
place the Gospel in so plain a point of view,
that every reader may be induced to put on
the “easy yoke” of Christ, and they will
find the “ burden light”—and that rest to
their immortal souls, which no other profes
sion can bestow !
In the course of the work will be inserted
the celebrated letters from Bishop Burnet cn
tlie conversion of Loid Rochester, and that
to guard against the abuse of ardent spirits—
this letter was re-published in several of the
northern states.
The selector was encouraged in the orignal
publication, by the following culogium of
Dr. Johnson —that “ Those persons metited
the thanks of the rising generation, who con
tracted the experienced rules of morality and
religion into so comprehensive a point of
view, that they might recur habitually to the
memory, rather than those who have encum
bered the world with lengthy productions of
originality.”
A catalogue of essential and cheap books
necessary for the improvemnt of souls in their
journey to immortality will be inserted—As
the Selector willingly presents his Labours of
Love, the price of the Pamphlet will be only
fifty cents —lt will be put to press so soon
as a sufficient number is subscribed for. Se
lected by T. SANDWICH,
An experienced Teacher who has perused
the manuscript, recommends the work to the
Presidents of our Colleges, and Proprietor*
of Academies, for their senior pupils.
