Hi .hast,..i Kvk,
I To be Published, in the, City of Augusta
| I’lie tallowing extract from ihe “ G.uniu,
Anvtiii isi.il,” will elucidate the pmicipa
and drift o the Poem
“ I'he Poem is in SIX BOCKS, of from three
to five hundred lines each. The author's
object seems to be to combat that err. neou*
sentiment which the melancholy speculation#
of .bids of gloomy sensibility have inculca
ted, that Ihe miseries of human life an lar
overbalance its enjoyments, that existence
itself is not a blessing, or its continuance to
he desired. Mr. Km, in In's Poem, attempt#
to show, and we believe pretty saccesaucl/y,
that toere are sufficient grounds ot comb rt
in all the. diversified station* of life sufficient
sources of consolation in the midst of con
victs and difficulties, to dCTltOosirale the
truth of tlie title be lias chosen for hi# f’o
cm, that it is “ Btrrmi ro Hi..” flee dea*
vors to show, that PrpviiUmce, in continu
ing individual* in exist.-oce, form* a more
accurate estimate of Unman happiness than
j those churlish beings tin, win,, in the midst
of counties, blessing-, can find nothing worth
living for. vfr. Kv,. takes a survey ol hu
man life in all its stage* —of science in all its
branches —of business in all its aclivity—of
creation in all its sublimity and beauty, and
under various views, and many animated
descriptions, be endeavors clearly to show,
that the life of man, with ail its vicissitude*,
has a balance of happiness greatly in its fa
vor. The work, we are informed, will after
a short i line lie put l o press."
