FRUITS TO EAT AND
THOSE TO AVOID.
Fruits as foods, are, then, peaches,
apricots, nectarines; ripe, mellow np
plca; date*, figs, fresh and dried;
prunes without skins; persimmons, pa
paws; very ripe or cooked bananas;
guava* without seeds—fresh or canned
without sugar; pineapples, grated or
finely picked, never cut; mangoes,
gropes: sweet plums without sklno,
sugar cherries, and an occasional eook
jed pear. Bnrtlets are excellent when
j canned without sugar.
, Tbs; fruits which must be used most
sparingly are lemons, oranges, shad
docks, currents, barberries, cranberries
and sti awberrles. This applies most
emphatically to those persons who are
are inclined to uric acid conditions. The
| rheumatism and gouty should also
most rigidly abstain. The tender lining
I<,f the child's stomach cannot, eertaln
;ly, bear such fruits any length of time;
serious results must follow-. The ripe,
mellow peach is really the child’s fruit.
