The Atlanta reunion has bid at least one regretted effect upon those who spent last week In the Gate City, and that Is the change ki the summer fash ions. Augusta women hove always ra ther prided themselve upon k ing D Ically South-rn, and Atlanta women at 1 decidedly f«''d of Imitating northern fashions of living and dressing. Now, sr me cf our girls fee fit to adopt th- Atlanta style of northern dressing. This Is especially nolle able in the mat ter of hols. On our streets, for th<- past few days. It bxs tier.) noted that a large number of th- airy, tull- trlmm»d, white Winged hats so admired in the early summer have given place to ih“ great bin-k picture hats laden with fu nereal plumes more or less gray from the Julv dust and bedraggled from last winters nlns. They are not even pic turesque, for they scoii th» daic.ttr.ess of tk>e most ethereal of toilets, kur thcrmoie they make commonplace, by constant summer ure. a style that <s re ally beautiful and appropriate for the summer. There is some r*a«on in this style of headgear being worn in the gr f at cities or at the Northern resorts where skies are much more often bleak tb;n bright, and where light and filmy materials hove a poverty strkken lock. It is pardonable, then, if these gioomy hat* are worn north cf Mason and Dlx lon's line,—the leading fashion journals. It is observed, make no mention Of them,—but for the love of all that Is congruous and artistic, do let us con tinue to be characteristically southern in our dr. es as well as manners, and let us nd'rrre to the bright and airy style of dressing for which the Georgia K irl is so constantly envied by her Northern sisters. j Lawn Fete. Tt was an exceptionally beautiful en tertainment that was given in the court house yard yesterday afternoon and evening, under the auspices cf the Rlchmccd County Auxiliary of the Ar my and Navy League. This great yerd was brilliant in the extreme, with man}- , flags and gay lanterns. At night gres headlights triads the lawn es bright as if lit by electricity.
