Fatbar Ixmneigan slated that he bad

what that dlgnltar’ would do he knew
absolutely nothing officially. 3t>eak-,

was of the opinion that nothing would

the present boundary lines of the two

In glancing out of the windows of
the parsonage, with no sign of work ,
men or activity on the new ehurrh. Fa-1
ther I-onrergan said that the building
operations were temtetrarlly at a
standstill, owing to the dlfflrulty In ob

Barred edifice. This will be overcome 1
shortly, though. Another source or pro

occasioned by the unfortunate failure
yesterday of W. H. Lynch ft Co., who
had this contract.
It was the Father’s hope thnt the big

TO MAINTAIN THE NAVY.
The Auxiliaries Wl'l Re Kept In the
Service of the Government.
New York. Aug. Id.—A special from
Washington rays: The etrength of the
navy will not be precipitately redur-d
on account of the cesaattcn of hostili
tlea, but on the contrary the adminis
tration hss determined that a very
large naval force will be nrc ssitated
by the Increased obllgat'ons the lTni
ted states has undertaken or had
forced upon it.
Orders nre given not only for the
prosecution of energetic operations al
rII naval stations to spe-'dlly put In
line trim all the regular warships of the
fleet, but a very large proportion of the
auxiliaries, whlrh were purchased to
the number of nearly o hundred, will
be considered in the category of perm
anent additions to the navy and will
not be turned back to the original own
ers.
Sorh a poliry was favorably con
sidered by the authorities a few weeks
ago, but bordly hud the peoc-' protocol
been signed than there resulted a more
adequate reol'iation of the great
change which the national policy of the
United States had almost Invisibly un
dergone and today the conviction is
forced upon the naval administration
that the American sea power cannot he
safely curtailed.
