Chicamauga. Aug. 20. - The Field Day exercises at the Snodgras* field thl* afternoon, for which preparation* have been lo progress some time, was witnessed by practically the entire Camp Thomas army and hundred* of civilians. The exercises are the first of a se ries dec ded upon by General Breck enrldge to furnish diversion and ath letic training for the men. The offi cials, Judges, and timer* are all offi cers Scores or soldiers participated lin lhe contests. Music was furnished by tbe First Missouri band. i p r . j. I. Saratoga, N. Y., Aug. 20—The nation al conference on the foreign policy of the United States resumed its delibera tions this morning. It Is presided over by Robert Treat Paine, cf Boston. In a brief address he defined himself as an entl-annexatlonlst. We must treat those islands captured from Spain as prizes to be dealt with as we think beet. We may not hold them by right of conquest, but we should see that a proper form of government is estab lished over each. Moorefleld, Storey, of Boston, next addressed the conference.
