DOM AUGUSTA WANT A NEW PUBLIC PARK! What is to become of the present ha sin when the new waterworks are In opera) it n? Borne of our cittsens think that the city ought to have a public park. There are many reasons why « public park at the place now occupied by the basin would be a proper undertaking on the part of the city. It Is In a section of the city that Is thickly pop ulated, and one In which the popula- I tlon Is rapidly growing. It Is In the factory district and so near to all the factories that those employed therein or their famtlltcs could easily reach the park. It would be a breathing spot for many thousands daring the heated spell. There Is no doubt hut that a public park on the site of the present waterworks basin would he a great boon to many thousands of laboring men and women, after the duties of the day. It would be a hygeniee and healthful contribution of the city and on the present council's part to the Uvea of many of our fellow cltisens. Augusta has really no park worthy of the name and worthy of the city. Savannah has a Forsythe Park, Atlan ta has a number of parks, and while Augusta has many resorts outside the city proper, yet she should have one right In the heart of the city.
