He will return to ramp at Huntsville In about a week. Th-re ate now four men from the sec ond Georgia regiment In Augusta. CENTRAL IN SHAPE AGAIN. The Road Was Ogened for Travel to Savannah Today. The track la clear again on the Cen ttal. The break* have been repaired, and passengers who left here on the 2:20 Cential train will get through to Sa vannah . The Central road authorities at this point received a telegram from Savan nah this morning, stating that the track was repaired. This was a sur prise. asi It was not supposed that the line would be ready for use lnsldo of a week at the utmost. The Central has kept a large force of hands busy, and has done some very quick work, ronsidering the many washouts that needed repairing. Another Building. Work has been about finished on tear ing down the building on Kills used as Schofield's tin shop. The new struct ure Is to be built by A. K. Rowland for Mr. George T. Barnes, will lie a 23x70 one-story building and will lie used by Mr. Madden as a blacksmith shop. A Good Shot. An evening or so ago, Mr. Willie Bush was standing in the Lakeside clubhouse. A king fisher wag seen fly ing about. Mr. Bush took his rifle, and as the bird flew by killed it with the first sh«t. Mr. Joe Bowles captur ing the gentleman’s prize, a pocket book and card case. Hrs Helmken Complimented. Mrs. J. H. Helmken of Savannah who is the guest of Mrs. H. R. Pund, has been the reeirkent of many charm ing attentions during her visit. Among several informal gatherings to be giv en in her honor are the afternoon tea with cvbicb Mrs. D. Sancken will com pliment her today, one tomorrow giv en in her honor by Mrs. D. Gehrken, ami one on Friday at which Mrs. .1. Henry Meyer will entertain a number of friends. Ice Cream Festival. The ladies of S'. Mathews church will give an ice cream festival on th" church lawn on Friday next from 4 till 10 o’clock. The children will be enter tained in the afternoon and the older folks in the evening. Jerome Jones No Ouorum Was Present. The Civic League was scheduled to meet at six o'clock lan afternoon at the Library building, but the meeting did not materialize, as no quorum was obtained. One of the most delightful trip* of 1 1 he season was out to the lovely camp I meeting grounds Sunday. September |4, 1898. Mr. L. Crenshaw and Mr. Bonham Smith, who for the benefit of their many friends secured the Bon- Air wagon, and charming Billy Boy for the driver, the crowd met at Cen tre and Broad to leave the city for a ! good cool drive and to hear the grand i sermon which was delivered hy Rev. I Mushburn in the forenoon. While on ! the road the girls would sing some I sweet hymns that would niuke you I think of heaven and all that was beau j tifui. To remember this happy event i the crowd had I heir photos taken! The | ladles, who so thoughtfully and boun tifully furnished the dinner, were: Miss Lottie Starr, Miss Lizzie Clark, Miss Belle Warren, Miss Carrie Starr, Miss Cora Hopklnson.
