C., Sept. s.—Late la ihe afternoon of last Friday, and after the cloee of the stair campaign meet ing. an unfortunate and deplorable dif ficulty arose over a trivial mailer be tween Mr. W. B. Seay, familiarly known Ihe county over by the aliaa "Tom," and Mr. Mac Johnson, a po liceman for ihe day. In which Mr. Johnson received a severe stab In Mis breast, the knife. It Is said, penetrating the lung and Mr. Seay received a pis tol hall in the side, Ihe ball perforating his bowels and lodging In his leg. Mr. Quitman Roberta, a bystander, re ceived a'fleah wound In the thigh. Mr. Johnson is still confined to his bed and while lie is much Improved he is stll lin a critical condition. Mr. Seay has since died from the ef fects of his wound* and hla remains were taken lo his home In the country, where they will be Interred. Wh?n not under the Influence of whiskey. Mr. Snny waa quiet and peac abie, kind hearted and generous. He was a warm friend and of a charitable dispo sition. It can he truthfully said that he was bis own worst enemy and his weakness was an over-indulgence at times In strong drink, and while un der its influence h waa generally quar relsome. Notwithstanding his faults he had a largo circle of friends, who sincerely regret hts tragic death. Ho was a well-to-do, industrious farmer and leaves quite an estate. He was uu marrleri and leaves an aged mother, several slßters and a large circle of rel atives lo mourn his taking off. The sympathies of the entlrecommun ity go out to Mr. Johnson and eJthou orate him from blame. OFFER FOR SALE.
