Sept. 7. lt is reported that the Vatican Is greatly peruirbed over the manner in which the czar has ig nored the holy see in connection with the peace proposal. The pope is ac customed to be treated wi:h the great est c*nrtesy and consideration by all European sovereigns, Protestant and Catholic alike, especially in matters apart from the domain of pure politics. It is felt that such a proposal as the czar’s is peculiarly a matter wherein the pope might claim the first consid eration. As a matter of fact the first the pope knew of the issue of Count Muravieff’s circular was a telegram received by Cardinal Rampolla from an enterpris ing newspaper editor, who desired the popefc views on the matter. Russia's seeming discourtesy will not be forgot ten by the Vatican. The Observatore Romano, the papal organ, however, confirms the statements of the pope's adhesion to the plan of universal dis armament proposed by tlfe Emperor of Russia and calls upon Catholics every where to asslt In furthering the pro- Ject. The Rome newspapers say the czar s peace conference w-ill be held in St. Petersburg, and add that ts the none j sends a representative Italy will with draw hers. .......... ■rttortrtrtMrtrtMHHHftHMßMßftßßßßßßMHßfe fill; tft qlrtol lv i 1 'lpift r*■ t%o*a |#fff •>*## t , ~ ~ kIFF . , I win m *«f I*#!## Marffiy 0 C4.t WMF: AT- Off# ft CVflftt. j tofMftWtor .. o. *o .# *• Flftl 41% ! lin#aitof »• •* •• ok #* AF% 45% »l«r ... *. .. t?kb 49% I tofMrmtor .. •• •• .* •• 3*% 49% IENMnNAAmF ** #• ♦*%* 3#%| ! ||#jr .. .. ..
