In the county of Glynn, state of Georgia In many respects tt will appeal to the people of Augusta and Klcbmoad It Is a* fol lows: “Glynn's registration bonks closed today with 2.330 names on them. There are 1,000 more name* than here tofore recorded. The negroes are several hundted In excess of the whites and by uniting on a set of candidates could elect negroes to every county of fice In Glynn, including the next repre sentatives. The whiles in both politi cal faction* here claim that they can control the negroes and keep such from happening an 4 will direct their efforts to that end." The excessive registration of the ne -1 groes In Glynn, just n« In Richmond in former years, Is due to political ac tivity among the whites on .local Issues and to the Intelligent custom of the white people of this section In appeal ing to ami purchasing the negro vote. In order to help them to decide the question of the best candidates for pub lic offices of honor and trust.lt seems if it is is Impossible for the white peo ple. despite the boasts of white supre macy in the south, to decide such things as n choice for local offices without the help of the colored vote. It seems to be true in Glynn as well as in Richmond. The merchant who advertised “our prices second to noce,” might just as well have said, “highest prices in town.” i Mb *l* wpia .'.if at Nat waa.
