Mary Walsh and the members of her family are anxious to have the police ferret out the villain who Is ao*desirous of having their home destroyed by lire. Three times Ui the past six months the torch has been applied to their dwelling on the cornerof Montgomery and Jones streets, and they are now thinking of deserting the property for fear they wi! be cremated by an Incendiary. The last attempt to burn the house was on Wednesday morning about t o’clock, when there was a noise like on explosion in the back of the house The Inmates were quickly aroused, and found the building In flames, with cotton and kerosene oil literally seat tered about the first story. The fire department was railed out and the fire extinguished before it had done much damage. Mrr, Walsh ts a widow whose hus.' band died about three years ago. She cannot understand who it Is that has designs on the property and the lives of herself and children. Jacksonville, Fla., Sept. 23. —Prepa- rations are being made somewhat soon er than was expected for the embarka tion of the Seventh Army Corps for Cuba. An order has been received nt the chief quartermaster’s department to equip the regiments of the corps at once for four month’s service. This order, coupled with the arrival In this city, of John S. Sullivan, chief super intendent of the United States trans ports. Is believed to mean that Gen- Fitxhugh l.ee's corps Is soon ‘o depart, especially as this port was recommend ed to the secretary of war as a point of embarkation for troops. Mr. Sulli van was ordered by the war depart ment to report to Col. Pond, chief quartermaster of the Seventh army corps for instructions. Several members of the Sixth regi ment band, consulted with Mayor Walsh this morning about running an exrrsion up to Atlanta to see the boy a If they did not come soon. A telegram was sent to Col. Brown of the Second, asking bow long com panies C and E would remain In camp in Atlanta. No answer has as yet been received, hut If an answer comes which state* that the troops will he there for some time In all probability the excursion will be run. if this step Is taken doubtless a large number will go up. The opera lovers of Augus'a will be glad to learn that they will have an opportunity of seeing Miss Lucia Moore at the Grand tonight.
