The famous flour mill he has operated on Elkhorn Creek for over fifty years, was built, by his grandfather, Carlo Spen : cer« a native of Holland, in 1797. Ho was a orevoted friend of Henry Clay, and when Clay was defeated for the Presidency by Polk, In 1844, Spencer took an oath he would never cast an other vote as long as he lived.
